Nonterminals are associated with latent states that provide contextual information during the top-down rewriting process of the grammar. We survey a few of the techniques used to estimate such grammars and to parse text with them. We also give an overview of what the latent states rep-resent for English Penn treebank parsing, and provide an overview of extensions and related models to these grammars.","PeriodicalId":133680,"journal":{"name":"Mathematics of Language","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125136641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
