Microporous carbon was obtained by activating the carbonized polymer with potassium hydroxide. It has been found that, depending on the mass ratio of KOH to carbonizing polymer, the specific surface area of the activated carbon varies from 2010 to 3307 m/g, and the micropore volume varies from 0.941 to 1.124 cm/g. The surface and porosity parameters of model carbon structures with homogeneous square or hexagonal pores were calculated. It is assumed that the micropore volume of the obtained activated carbons is approaching the theoretical limit. In order to obtain the limiting stage of the process, the kinetic data obtained at various temperatures were approximated by pseudo-first, pseudo-second-order models, as well as the Boyd model for various cases of diffusive drag. It was found that the kinetics of adsorption of lanthanum ions is determined primarily by the rate of surface chemical reaction, while the adsorption of aluminum ions is limited by diffusion processes. The problem of calculating the optimal design parameters of a chemical air regeneration system that provides the composition of the atmosphere for oxygen and carbon dioxide in an airtight inhabited facility at a level comfortable for human breathing for a guaranteed time in the presence of uncertain (“inaccurate”) information about the respiratory load and heat generation of people located in a sealed facility is formulated. Al+CuO mixture allows receiving one of the highest exothermic effects per unit of volume (more than 20kJ/cm3). However, the burning rate of initial mixtures of micron powders usually does not exceed several tens of mm/s, which limits the field of their application. This is because that development of chemical reactions in solid mixtures takes place on the contact surface of reactants, which in the case of large particles is rather small. To increase this surface, various methods are used: ultrasonic mixing of nanosized powders, electrochemical deposition of submicron metal-oxidizer layers, etc. [1]. One of the relatively new methods for obtaining thermite composition is the preliminary mechanochemical activation of mixtures of micron-sized particles in high energy intensity ball mills. Initial components in this process are shredded, mixed and acquire new defects of crystal structure, which leads to an increase in the surface area of contact of the reagents at the submicron and nanoscale levels and also to formation of additional reaction spots. Thus, by means of mechanoactivation of oxidizer-metal mixtures it is possible to regulate the rate of energy release for different of specific application.
