Lack of physical activity can worsen glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, causing complications affecting their quality of life. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between physical activity and the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a descriptive correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach and 84 respondents obtained by a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) and a Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) questionnaire and analyzed by the Kendall Tau correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that 51.2% of respondents had moderate physical activity levels, and 57.1% had a high quality of life. Kendall's tau b test revealed a significant positive correlation between physical activity and the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients during the COVID-19 pandemic (p-value = 0.015 and r = 0.251). Providing health education about the importance of physical activity is essential, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, to enhance quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.","PeriodicalId":133554,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Kesehatan Komunitas Indonesia","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132706250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Physical and psychological changes in the elderly cause disturbances in daily activities. The physical and mental health of the elderly are two things that have a reciprocal relationship that requires pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment. This study aims to examine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on physical health (pain) and mental health (stress, anxiety, and depression) in the elderly. This research is Quasi-Experimental research using a one-group pre-post test design approach. The population in this study were all elderly living in the homestead at the Tresna Wredha Social Institution in the Jember Region. The Numerical Rating Scale for pain and DASS-21 measures pain, stress, anxiety, and depression in the elderly before and after implementing progressive muscle relaxation therapy. The results of this study showed that there were significant differences between before and after administration of progressive muscle relaxation therapy for pain (p-value = 0.000), stress (p-value = 0.000), anxiety (p-value = 0.000), and depression (p-value =0.000) in the elderly. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for implementing progressive muscle relaxation therapy to reduce pain, stress, anxiety, and depression in the elderly so that it is expected that the physical and psychological health of the elderly can improve.","PeriodicalId":133554,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Kesehatan Komunitas Indonesia","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124971022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nurses have a role in overcoming the instability of blood glucose levels by performing the main intervention, namely hyperglycemia management. From these interventions, Ramadan fasting is a safe dietary choice for patients with type 2 diabetes. This study uses a literature review method with article searches conducted on the PubMed electronic database, Science Direct, and Open Knowledge Maps. The results of the literature review show that the length of Ramadan fasting carried out by participants from all journals is 30 days, with a fasting duration of 10-15 hours/day. Blood sugar levels of type 2 DM participants after Ramadan fasting showed a decrease of 4-43.33 mg/dl, and 1.81-3.01 mmol/L, and the HbA1c value decreased by 0.21-2.2%. The results of statistical tests showed that fasting during Ramadan was quite effective in reducing KGD/HbA1c with a p value of < 0.05. This literature review concludes that Ramadan fasting is effective in reducing blood glucose levels in type 2 DM patients and the practice still conforms to the International Diabetes Federation – Diabetes And Ramadan (IDF-DAR) guidelines.","PeriodicalId":133554,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Kesehatan Komunitas Indonesia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130231916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sleep disorders in elementary school children aged 7-11 years in Indonesia as much as 65.3% in 2020. Long term, lack of sleep can cause obesity, depression, and fatigue. Imbalanced nutrition and poor sleep quality lead to inhibition of appetite regulation. Parents have an important role in setting a child's sleep schedule, behavior, and activities. Family counseling about the quality of children's sleep can affect the fulfillment of nutritional status. Children's nutritional status is influenced by several factors, such as children's sleep quality, children's physical activity, and children's eating patterns. These three elements must be met so that the nutritional status of children does not decrease and children become overweight or obese.
