Audio key finding is a basic music information retrieval task; it forms an essential component of systems for music segmentation, similarity assessment, and mood detection. Due to copyright restrictions and a labor-intensive annotation process, audio key finding algorithms have only been evaluated using small proprietary datasets to date. To create a common base for systematic comparisons, we have constructed a dataset comprising of more than 3,000 excerpts of classical music. The excerpts are made publicly accessible via commonly used acoustic features such as pitch-based spectrograms and chromagrams. We introduce a hybrid annotation scheme that combines the use of title keys with expert validation and correction of only the challenging cases. The expert musicians also provide ratings of key recognition difficulty. Other meta-data include instrumentation. As demonstration of use of the dataset, and to provide initial benchmark comparisons for evaluating new algorithms, we conduct a series of experiments reporting key determination accuracy of four state-of-the-art algorithms. We further show the importance of considering factors such as estimated tuning frequency, key strength or confidence value, and key recognition difficulty in key finding. In the future, we plan to expand the dataset to include meta-data for other music information retrieval tasks.","PeriodicalId":133327,"journal":{"name":"The International journal of Multimedia & Its Applications","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132429861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm filters out all possible objects from the license plate image and focuses on the resulting objects. The coordinates of the center point of the bounding box for these objects is calculated and then possible alignments between these objects are checked. After finding the aligned objects, the recognition algorithms are applied to differentiate the numbers from the letters in the plate.","PeriodicalId":133327,"journal":{"name":"The International journal of Multimedia & Its Applications","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122383238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If \"Skin Detection\" will be done in high accuracy, it can be used in many cases as face recognition, Human Tracking and etc. Until now so many methods were presented for solving this problem. In most of these methods, color space was used to extract feature vector for classifying pixels, but the most of them have not good accuracy in detecting types of skin. The proposed approach in this paper is based on \"Color based image retrieval\" (CBIR) technique. In this method, first by means of CBIR method and image tiling and considering the relation between pixel and its neighbors, a feature vector would be defined and then with using a training step, detecting the skin in the test stage. The result shows that the presenting approach, in addition to its high accuracy in detecting type of skin, has no sensitivity to illumination intensity and moving face orientation.","PeriodicalId":133327,"journal":{"name":"The International journal of Multimedia & Its Applications","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132759949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our previous work, we have proposed key frame detection based approach for semantic event detection and classification. The proposed scheme works in two parts. In first part a top-down event detection and classification is performed using hierarchical tree. In second part, higher level concept is identified by applying A-Priori algorithm. In part 1, key frames are identified based on Hue Histogram difference at level 1. At level 2, logo transitions classify the frames as real-time or replay. At level 3, we classify the real time frames as field view, pitch view or non field view based on thresholds like Dominant Soli Pixel Ration (DSPR) and Dominant Grass Pixel Ration (DGPR). At level 4, we detect close up and crowd frames based upon edge detection. At level 5a, we classify the close up frames into player of team A, player of team B and umpire based upon skin colour and corresponding jersey colour. At level 5b, we classify the crowd frames into spectators, player’s gathering of team A or player’s gathering of team B. In part two, labels are associated with each frame event, which is used as input to A-Priori algorithm for concept mining. Results at the end of paper show the robustness of our approach.","PeriodicalId":133327,"journal":{"name":"The International journal of Multimedia & Its Applications","volume":"169 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116094361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The NSCT can give the asymptotic optimal representation of the edges and contours in image by virtue of the characteristics of good multi resolution shift invariance and multi directionality. After decomposing the host image into sub bands, we choose the low frequency directional sub band and apply singular value decomposition. The singular values of the original image are then modified by the singular values of nonsubsampled contourlet transformed visual grayscale logo watermark image. This hybrid approach improves the performance of the watermarking technique compared to earlier techniques. Experimental results shows that the hybrid technique is resilient to various linear and non linear filtering ,JPEG compression, JPEG2000 compression, Histogram equalization, Grayscale inversion, Contrast adjustment, gamma correction, alpha mean ,cropping ,Gaussian noise, scaling etc.","PeriodicalId":133327,"journal":{"name":"The International journal of Multimedia & Its Applications","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128797948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
