Several typical landslides area were selected as the experimental areas. 61 ASAR data have been processed, which were acquired from 2003 to 2010. The obtained preliminary deformation rate map not only included the experimental areas, but also showed several new landslides areas. The results showed that the deformation rate distribute between −8.4 to 8.18 mm/y in typical landslides area. Meanwhile an new landslide area in ShuangGuMu was detected with the subsidence rate for 5.3mm/y. As for PS-InSAR results were not consistent with the traditional surveying results, this paper analyzed the possible reasons which affected the landslide monitoring in Qing river reservoir area.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"310 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122779848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Estimation of changes in urban ecosystem service values from remote sensing data in Guangzhou, China","authors":"Y. Results show that the annual total ESVs of Guangzhou were $1248.53, 1255.20, 1287.58 million in 1995, 2000 and 2009, with increases of $6.67 million from 1995 to 2000, $32.38 million from 2000 to 2009, and $39.25 million from 1995 to 2009, respectively. The annual average increasing rate was on average 0.24% during the study period. The combined ESV of woods land and water body together was more than 82.5% of the annual total values of Guangzhou in the three dates. The ESVs of gas regulation, climate regulation, water conservation, waste treatment, biodiversity protection, raw material and recreational culture functions increased while the ESVs of soil formation and conservation and food production functions decreased from 1995 to 2009. It is suggested that the LULC changes were mainly responsible for the ESV changes in Guangzhou and a sound land use planning should be taken effectively for sustainable urban development in Guangzhou.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122901105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researches on estimating urban vegetation fraction (UVF) accurately from remotely sensed imageries have been conducted massively and widely. However, in view of obtaining UVF and its spatio-temporal dynamics, shortcomings are still there in these widely used data, which are acquired by sensors, including Terra/Acqua MODIS, NOAA AVHRR, SPOT and Landsat series (e.g.1–5, 7). Therefore, it is desirable to exploit the usage of other kind of data, observed by the newly launched China satellites (e.g. HJ-1A/B, CBERS) for those issues. These data also are provided freely to the common users. In this paper, the possibility was evaluated that using HJ-1B CCD multispectral data for estimating UVF with optimal and practical methods. Two methodologies were discussed and compared, which specifically were based on vegetation index (VI) and spectral mixture analysis (SMA). Findings in this paper demonstrate that UVF was able to be obtained accurately through both the VI method (e.g. based on NDVI, SAVI, and EVI) and the SMA. Although the SMA performed superiorly to the VI method, results modeled from both methods were parallel with those obtained from Landsat TM/ETM+ (in previous practices). Our research suggests that these new satellites, including HJ-1A/B, can provide the useful data sources for monitoring urban environment, with both high spatial and temporal resolution.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114269340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many studies based on time series reconstructed with HANTS documented the excellent performance of this method. While some limitations of HANTS have been noticed in these applications, there is no dedicated study on a systematic evaluation on the performance of the HANTS method. In this study, we evaluated the impact of gaps on the time series reconstruction of NDVI by HANTS. For global representativeness, a simulated NDVI time series dataset was constructed for four generic patterns and was applied as a reference dataset. Then random gaps were introduced into the reference series and both the reference and gapped series were reconstructed by harmonic analysis. The deviations between the two reconstructed results were used to evaluate statistically the accuracy of harmonic analysis under different gap conditions. The size of maximum gap (MGS), the number of loss (NL) and the number of gaps (NG) were selected to parameterize the gap distribution. The results showed that MGS, NL and NG were significant factors in the process of reconstruction and the two terminals and the peak of the series are crucial positions. MGS and NL should not be too large in the time series for all seasonal or non-seasonal case; otherwise the reconstructed series is not reliable. These conclusions can be taken as a reference to indicate the reliability of HANTS for particular cases towards the definition of a quality indicator of any time series.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129920675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is necessary to explore the feasibility of the algorithm based on physical model for LAI retrieval using high spatial resolution remote sensing imagery. This study utilized the algorithm based on Four-scale model to derive LAI in planted forest from TM imagery. A set of land cover type dependent relationships between LAI and Simple Ratio (SR) are provided for various solar and view anlges. Bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) and clumping representation at canopy scale are both considered in the algorithm. The empirical model using NDVI as predicted variable is also considered for LAI estimation. A validation study was conducted with in-situ measurements of LAI in planted forest from Zhangye, Gansu province. Better accuracy in LAI prediction was observed from the inversion algorithm based on Four-scale model (R2=0.67, RMSE=0.50) than that from NDVI (R2=0.59, RMSE=0.67) compared with measured LAI, especially when LAI > 2.00. Moreover, the sensitivity analysis of inversed LAI to bands reflectance was carried out. LAI was more sensitive to reflectance at red band (ρred) than that at near infrared band (ρnir), with uncertainty value of reflectance range from −10% to −30%. This study prove the effectiveness of the algorithm based on Four-scale model in LAI estimation from TM imagery in planted forest and will be helpful in further developing physical models for high spatial resolution LAI retrieval.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"155 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121405837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Segmenting and identifying different types of urban street objects from laser scanning point cloud data are urgent issues for the VLS applications. This paper presents a new Voxel-based Marked Neighborhood Searching (VMNS) method for identifying street trees and measuring their morphological parameters from VLS data. The VMNS method includes following five steps, including voxelization, setting voxel value, neighborhood search and mark, computing the biophysical parameters, and eliminating other pole-like objects. The feasibility of the method is proved through a case study. The results show most of the laser points that constitute an individual tree are identified and extracted correctly. The errors of derived biophysical parameters are analyzed by compared with the in situ measurement data. The paper shows that our VMNS method is effective for the street trees identification from VLS data.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115325840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, many wetlands in the world are degrading rapidly recent years, especially in China. The traditional method of monitoring wetlands by using field survey costs too much labor force and time. Nowadays, Remote Sensing data have been widely used in the researches of wetlands as the main data. This study was performed to propose an improved method of wetlands information extraction by using TM data. And an improved Maximum Likelihood method was proposed to obtain wetlands distribution more accurately with less noise. The wetlands distribution information and landscape parameters were extracted based on classification results of different years. Dongying City, located in the Yellow River delta, was chosen as the study area. The results showed the alteration of areas and landscape pattern of wetlands in Dongying from 2007 to 2010 and also revealed that this improved classification method could obtain wetlands distribution and landscape parameters effectively. The impact factors resulting in the wetlands alteration were also discussed to offer a reference for wetlands protection.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115737110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are three important features used in developing geometric accuracy, area, position and shape. The feature of shape can reflect the spatial pattern of classified object, which is an important target of object-based classification. For this reason, we use shape similarity to evaluate the geometric accuracy of object-based classification result of remote sensing imagery. The evaluation method is developed from slice model. The effectiveness of this method has been proved in case study.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114680334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reflectance spectra of Entermorpha vary under different development periods due to great differences in their physical, chemical and biological properties. To explore the changes of reflectance spectra of Entermorpha through its whole life cycle, we collected Entermorpha from Huangwo, LianYunGang. The whole life cycle here was defined as from spore period, seedling period, maturation period, to death period. The reflectance spectra of Entermorpha in the whole life cycle were measured by ASD FieldSpec HandHeld spectrometer. Based on these reflectance spectra data, the reflectance spectra of Entermorpha during the whole life cycle were extracted by spectra morphology method. The results indicated that during the spore period, the measured reflectance spectra actually was the reflectance of sea water because the spore of Entermorpha could not identified by naked eye. During the seedling period, the peak and valley of reflectance spectra was not very obvious because of narrow length and width of Entermorpha. Weak peak and valley reflectance spectra were observed until the length reached 8 cm and the width reached 1.5 mm. During the maturation period, reflectance spectra had conspicuous peak and valley, however the whole reflectivity was very low, which was less than 0.3. During the death period, the absorption valley in the red light band, one of the reflectance spectra characteristics of Entermorph tended to decrease.","PeriodicalId":132133,"journal":{"name":"2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127473452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
