Furthermore, the majority of legal documents for companies and statistical data are inadequate for risk analysis. This aspect enhances the uncertainty of the worksite circumstances. This research aims to propose a novel approach in a fuzzy environment to consider the uncertainties and interdependencies for the risk assessment of occupational safety in construction projects. Occupational safety risk factors (OSRFs) are identified using an expert panel. An extended decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) with interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy numbers is integrated with the Choquet integral to obtain robust interdependencies between OSRFs. Then, the extended technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) method with the intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFs) is applied to obtain the priorities of OSRFs. Moreover, an intuitionistic fuzzy weighted average (IFWA) operator is employed to integrate the individual judgments of experts for ranking the degree of importance of OSRFs. Eventually, the sensitivity analysis is conducted and the robustness and validity of results from the suggested approach are verified.","PeriodicalId":13141,"journal":{"name":"Human and Ecological Risk Assessment: An International Journal","volume":"16 1","pages":"1134 - 1151"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82770169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These pictograms depict the nature of pesticides, their correct dosage and handling. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of different colors (black, red, yellow, green, blue, and pink) on the comprehensibility of pesticide pictograms. Thirty farmers were selected as the participants of this study. Two tests were conducted in this study, a Comprehension test and a Ranking test. In the Comprehension test, comprehensibility for different colors of pesticide pictograms was evaluated. In the Ranking test, the participant’s preference for colors was checked for the pesticide pictograms. Maximum comprehension level was observed for the pictogram of ‘Wash after using pesticide’ (100%) for all the colors. A minimum comprehension level was observed for the pictogram of ‘How to handle liquid’ (65%) for red color. Results indicated no significant variations (p > 0.05) in comprehension levels for changes in different colors of pesticide pictograms. Results of the ranking test indicated that the users preferred Red color (mean rank 1.37) for pesticide pictograms, while Yellow (mean rank 4.54) and Pink (mean rank 4.57) colors were the least preferred colors for pesticide pictograms. The results we mentioned are for comprehension level though no significant difference was noticed, but for the ranking test red color was preferred over other colors.","PeriodicalId":13141,"journal":{"name":"Human and Ecological Risk Assessment: An International Journal","volume":"28 1","pages":"1152 - 1162"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90541789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fishes with different feeding habits (omnivore, herbivore, and carnivore) and microhabitat preferences (surface, column, and bottom dweller) were sampled at Balloki and Sidhnai barrages during the post-monsoon seasons of 2019–2020. The gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of fish samples were found to be contaminated with MPs, with an average of 28.1 ± 20.7 MPs/individual and 26.8 ± 15.9 MPs/individual at Balloki and Sidhnai barrages, respectively. The surface dweller fish exhibited the highest MPs abundance, followed by the bottom dweller and column dweller. In addition, the highest MPs recovered from the omnivore generalist feeding group as compared to herbivores and carnivores. The fibers were the most abundant shape and generally made up of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyethylene (PE). These PET and PE (low-density MPs) exhibit low hazard level, whereas high-density MPs with high hazard level and rarely present in GIT of sampled fishes. Based on MP polymer toxicity assessment, nine fish species were categorized in minor risk, two species in medium risk, and four species in highrisk group. Bottom dwelling fishes were at the highest plastic polymer risk level III due to the presence of a high density of MPs with high toxicity hazards. The high-risk prone fishes are under direct threat from MPs pollution, which may disrupt the ecological integrity of the river ecosystem and human health. The findings of the current study highlight the urgent need to address plastic pollution issues in River Ravi, and will be helpful for managers, researchers, and fisheries experts to mitigate this emerging challenge.speciesspecies","PeriodicalId":13141,"journal":{"name":"Human and Ecological Risk Assessment: An International Journal","volume":"32 1","pages":"1109 - 1133"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78588242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This meta-analysis was performed based on PECO questions (P = general population; E = Q1 Cd levels in the specimen; C = Cd levels exceeding Q1; O = cardiovascular outcomes). 1231 articles were retrieved by using search terms of cadmium and cardiovascular outcomes in PubMed, Cochrane, and Web of Science. 21 articles were included in this meta-analysis according to the PRISMA statement. Begg’s tests were used to evaluate publication bias, and there was no publication bias in studies of Cd on acute myocardial infarction (AMI) (p = .85), cardiovascular disease (CVD) (p = .05), heart disease (HD) (p = .57) and stroke (p = .14). Cd exposure increased the risk of cardiovascular outcomes including CVD (RR = 1.36, 95% Cl: 1.22–1.50), HD (RR = 1.73, 95% Cl: 1.39–2.08) and stroke (RR = 1.28, 95% Cl: 1.10–1.46). This meta-analysis indicated that Cd exposure might correlate with the occurrence of cardiovascular outcomes positively. Therefore, reducing Cd emissions to the environment or reducing the environmental intake of Cd is crucial for cardiovascular protection.","PeriodicalId":13141,"journal":{"name":"Human and Ecological Risk Assessment: An International Journal","volume":"12 1","pages":"1091 - 1108"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83831319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
