This technique is used to ensure a best injection without reactive current and to obtain a low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). A modeling system established mathematical models of the TPI and the DC link. An adaptive Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) based on ANN (ANN-PID) and a classical PID are used respectively to regulate the DC link voltage and the TPI output currents. The simulation with the proposed methods show a good tracking of the DC link voltage. In add, the injected currents have the best sinusoidal form with a current Total Harmonic Distortion of 2.27 % compared to 2.45 % when only using the conventional PID.","PeriodicalId":129367,"journal":{"name":"2020 9th International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130616831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of them have even a temperature sensor or wireless monitoring and control system via Internet of Things. These systems are typically fixed and cannot be moved. For older buildings, adding this kind of system can be expensive because this often requires remolling in addition of the cost of the system itself. Moreover, renters typically prefer to invest in systems which they can take with them. In addition, users may need other kind of sensor data and for different applications. There is therefore a need for a portable, relatively inexpensive system which should be easy to use with a smartphone. In this paper, a concept schema is presented for a such system with a case example.","PeriodicalId":129367,"journal":{"name":"2020 9th International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"175 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130090206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the Fuel Cell (FC) technology is a promising solution especially for its charging times and zero CO2 direct emissions. The paper addresses the design and performance study of an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (IPMSM) drive powered by fuel cell for automotive applications. The IPMSM drive is powered by the use of 5,5 kW FC unit and it is composed of two DC-DC power converters and one inverter. In detail, a test bench has been carried out for the evaluation of the performances of each IPMSM drive conversion stage. Moreover, in order to simulate automotive working conditions the European Standard Urban Driving Cycle (UDC) test is used in order to evaluate the performances of the electric drive. The experimental results are discussed in order to highlight the benefits and the adoption of possible solutions in order to improve the overall performances of the electric drive.","PeriodicalId":129367,"journal":{"name":"2020 9th International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114506479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The basis for the evaluation is a Current Controlled VSM where a quasi-stationary virtual impedance emulates a simplified positive sequence electrical model of a synchronous machine. It is shown how three general strategies can be selected for controlling the negative sequence currents: 1) calculation of the negative sequence current references according to the desired active and reactive power flow characteristics, 2) applying a negative sequence virtual impedance resulting in unbalanced currents as in the steady-state response of a synchronous machine, or 3) operation with a negative sequence voltage controller for eliminating unbalances in the locally measured voltages. For the first approach, three objectives for shaping the power flow characteristics can be selected: I) balanced three-phase currents, II) constant instantaneous active power flow, or III) constant instantaneous reactive power flow. Comprehensive simulation results are presented to evaluate the performance and applicability under grid connected and islanded operation. The results demonstrate how utilization of the negative sequence currents to control the power flow characteristics is only applicable for grid connected operation, while the other two approaches can be utilized in both islanded and grid-connected modes. However, closed loop control for balancing the local voltages depends on a high equivalent grid impedance and is not suitable for operation in strong grid conditions.","PeriodicalId":129367,"journal":{"name":"2020 9th International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"161 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121739992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the available literature, postfault operation of multiphase machines is preferably implemented using two techniques: minimal losses (ML) or maximum torque per ampere (MT) techniques. In the ML scenario, the optimization problem aims at minimizing the stator Joule losses. This paper revisits a five-phase induction motor's postfault operation of under a single open phase fault with optimizing the stator loss machine optimal currents calculation over the full loading range. The proposed algorithm, which combines the advantage of both MT and ML techniques, attempts to minimize the five phase machine stator losses induced by the current components of both the fundamental aft and the secondary xy subspaces. A detailed simulation study to a 1.5kW five-phase induction machine based on MATLAB has been conducted to validate the proposed optimal controller.","PeriodicalId":129367,"journal":{"name":"2020 9th International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121976195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach was shown to reduce system powertrain losses, and hence cost of operation. However, in addition to cost, some vessel types are quite sensible to system weight and footprint. For such vessels, use of batteries without power converters is an attractive solution. However, the Variable DC approach is not applicable to batteries integrated without power converters. This paper proposes modifications on the previously presented Variable DC approach. The new approach enables reductions in system weight and footprint, while also achieving improvements in powertrain efficiency. The validation of the proposed method is carried out using a real-time hardware in loop test setup.","PeriodicalId":129367,"journal":{"name":"2020 9th International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115493539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, VSMs can inherently support seamless transition from grid connected to islanded mode. However, the reconnection of a VSM-based islanded to the grid requires a dedicated synchronization controller. The synchronization process should align the frequency and phase angle of the islanded system to the grid voltage to avoid abrupt transients in the currents when closing the breaker connection to the grid. This paper presents a simple and flexible control structure for grid resynchronization of a VSM operating in islanded mode. The scheme is based on two cascaded regulators operating on the phase and frequency difference between the VSM and the grid to generate an offset in the power reference. Starting from a simplified analytical model of the islanded system, a tuning procedure ensuring a controlled resynchronization transient is derived. Numerical results confirm the intended operation of the synchronization scheme with the associated tuning algorithm and validate their robustness against variations in the initial conditions of the synchronization process and to the virtual inertia value.","PeriodicalId":129367,"journal":{"name":"2020 9th International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132031424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
