In the pilot phase, a qualitative study was conducted to understand the parental intervention and the teachers' perception of such support (support/interference). The pilot study paved the way for the second quantitative study. It is posited that for teachers, perceived parental support (PPS) increased job satisfaction (JS) through the mediating role of positive affect (PA), while perceived parental interference (PPI) decreased JS through the mediating role of negative affect (NA). Empirical validation from 150 primary school teachers using SEM partially supported the model. PA did not mediate the relation between PPS and JS. PPI, however, did influence JS through NA. Women teachers reported lesser PA and greater NA. Joint family increased JS and NA while decreasing PA.","PeriodicalId":128412,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Asian Perspectives of the Educational Impact of COVID-19","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125855757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Administering both web-based e-questionnaire and self-administered questionnaire, data were collected from 2,473 students and teachers. Findings from analysis of variance and t-test indicated disagreements among students and teachers regarding the challenges of OE/DL, with some exceptions, such as learning difficulties, willingness of government, and frequent load shedding. The outcome of exploratory factor analysis suggested a two-factor solution—‘pedagogical-technical challenges' and ‘financial challenges'—explaining around 50% variance regarding OE/DL. The overall results indicated that for an inclusive and quality OE/DL in Bangladesh, the improvement in technical infrastructure and pedagogical contents and resolving financial struggle are highly recommended to make OE/DL more effective and minimize the impact of a pandemic on the education sector.","PeriodicalId":128412,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Asian Perspectives of the Educational Impact of COVID-19","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126093092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, schools use diverse ICT tools to create, update, store, communicate, as well as manage information. The purpose of this chapter is to identify the usefulness of ICT in the education system during the lockdown for COVID-19 globally. The study covers innovative use of ICT in teaching and learning, accessibility, and quality of education, as well as learners' academic performance during the COVID-19 lockdown. Making use of the technology improves accessibility as well as quality of education during the COVID-19 lockdown. ICT eliminates the need for physical interaction between educators and learners by creating virtual learning environment. Learners can take courses online with the cost far cheaper than the physical learning environment. ICT promotes learners' motivation and engagement by facilitating the shift to learner-centred methods.","PeriodicalId":128412,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Asian Perspectives of the Educational Impact of COVID-19","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116845042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The chapter also provides some alternative ways to reduce these challenges using different techniques within the latitudes of social sciences research. This chapter is based on authors' empirical observations, and some evidence is obtained from the experts' opinions working in different disciplines in social sciences. Results found some practical challenges (i.e., many social researchers stop their research practices due to inaccessibility in the communities; many of them started their research, but could not finish it; some researchers are doing their research using alternative tools and techniques; and research funding has been frizzed due to this pandemic). Findings would be useful to the social sciences researchers, academics, research students, policymakers, and development practitioners.","PeriodicalId":128412,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Asian Perspectives of the Educational Impact of COVID-19","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122286235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
