Methods: Electromagnetic signals were first measured by ankle plantar flexion or muscle testing in a supine position with 12 patient ankle plantar flexor in the standing position. In the second measurement, the length and symmetry of stride are measured through the gait analyzer. In the third measurement, the ability to measure obstacles was measured. The paired- T test revealed a significant difference. Results: After the intervention, the step length was significantly decreased (p .05), between pre- and post-intervention. Conclusion: The results of this study show that the length of stride, ability to overcome obstacles, muscular activity, and muscle strength are increased more after exercise. Therefore, it is a movement that requires patients with hemiplegia to aim for calf muscle exercise because it increases the length of step in their daily lives, overcomes obstacles, and has a positive effect on muscle activity and muscle strength.","PeriodicalId":127554,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy","volume":"32 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121000936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: Thirty-two subjects were randomly assigned to either a Plank exercise group (n=16 ; 8 male and 8 female) or a Hip walking exercise group (n=16 ; 8 male and 8 female). Plank exercise was performed five times per week during 6 weeks. The first week was performed 3sets a day(1set program; 30 second hold-30 second rest), and then increased by 1set per week. Hip walking exercise was performed for 30 second, once a day, five times per week, during 6 weeks. The muscle activities of abdominal muscles(external oblique, rectus abdominis) were measured before, after 3 weeks and after 6 weeks of exercise by using a wireless surface electromyogram(EMG). The normalized EMG activities were compared using a one-way repeated ANOVA, and if there is statistically significant difference, a Bonferroni was used as post-hoc. Independent t-test was used to compare differences between groups. All statistical significance level was set at p<.05. Results: The results of this study were as follows. In both groups, there were a variation of abdominal muscle activities. It has been increased significantly after exercise more than before. To be specific, the activity has been increased more 6 weeks later than 3 weeks. But there was no significant difference between the both groups. Conclusion: These results suggest that plank exercise and hip walking exercise can be useful method for people to increase muscle activity in a short time, regardless of place.","PeriodicalId":127554,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128195392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results: There was a statistically significant difference dynamic balance and posture alignment in the group trained on the unstable support surface (p<.05). Methods: Tweleve healthy young adults with an average age of 21.45 ± 1.03 years, and body mass index of 24.21 ± 4.01kg/m2 performed squat exercises on 3 different slope boards(i.e. flat, 10-degree incline, 10-degree decline ground slope). The squat exercise on each ground slope condtion was performed 10 trials with a rest time of 30 seconds between the conditions. During the squat exercise, muscle activation of tibialis anterior (TA), multifidus (MUL), gastrocnemius (GCM) and internal oblique (IO) muscles were measured and included in muscle synergy analysis using ICAPCA. Results: As a result, three synergies of all participants were extracted and there was no significant difference in variance accounted for(VAF) of each synergy, indicating the complexity of muscle synergy between the ground slope condition. However, during exercise on the incline slope ground, there were sigfniciant lower TA muscle weighting of synergy 1 (P=0.020) and higher IO muscle weighting of synergy 2 (P=0.005) than flat ground. Furthremore, during exercise on the decline slope ground, a significant lower TA muscle weighting of synergy 2 (P=0.017) was found when compared with the incline slope ground. Conclusion: In conclusion, the findings of this study suggest that squat exercise on incline slope ground will be recommended for training lower extremity muscles above the ankle and abdominal core muscles, and decline slope ground will be recommended for training balance abiltiy, especially, in the elderly.","PeriodicalId":127554,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130429996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
