It explored the challenges faced by women in a male-dominated society by highlighting a determined 18-year-old woman's journey for autonomy. It employed radical feminist theory to critically evaluate the pervasive male dominance prevalent in that era and called for a comprehensive societal restructuring by eliminating men's superiority. This study used qualitative methods and textual analysis to explore the protagonist's encounters with patriarchal barriers and emphasized the necessity of self-empowerment strategies to counter such dominance. It advocated for women's proactive adoption of self-empowerment strategies to challenge patriarchal oppression effectively. Furthermore, it highlighted the protagonist's success in taking control of her destiny by defying societal norms and prioritizing personal values over societal expectations. This investigation significantly contributed to discussions on female empowerment by showcasing the protagonist's resilience and successful defiance of societal norms, ultimately seizing control over her destiny in an era characterized by patriarchal values. Through her struggles, she transcends societal norms, fulfilling her aspiration to marry for love rather than succumbing to financial motives. This research aimed to conduct a case study incorporating pragmastylistic analysis of BTS’ RM’s letter (2022) on Weverse to debunk BTS’ disbandment rumours and misinterpretations about BTSFESTA. The study also determined to scrutinize the types of speech acts used in order to clear certain propositions and assumptions. The study employed a qualitative research method to address the research questions. The theoretical framework was based on Speech Act theory (Austin, 1962) to analyse the speech acts in the letter under felicity conditions (Leech, 1962). The findings of the study suggested that Namjoon used simple and declarative statements performing hybrid speech acts such as expressive, commissive, directive, expositive, verdictive, etc. Mostly, the speech acts were inclined towards expositive and commissive expressions to clear certain ambiguities and make commitments to manage to do this in future as well. This study was methodologically significant for incorporating pragmastylistic analysis to study the language of celebrities’ debunking rumours on social media. For this purpose, one hundred students of grade 4 were selected from the sample schools. This study employed a non-probability convenience sampling technique. The word association test was used to collect the data, which involved selecting 40 words from grade 4 English textbooks taught at three different private sector schools under three respective education systems. This study employed quantitative method to collect the responses of sample students in word association test. The data was analyzed by using Fitzpatrick’s (2007) model of classification of association response. The results showed that position-based association, which accounted for 56.95% of the total collected data dominated the distribution of the data; 17.95% of connections were meaning-based; whereas collocation associations were prevalent in position-based association test. The findings of the word association test showed that the participants’ mental lexicon was impacted by their comprehension and use of the target term. The research concluded that in the participants’ mental lexicon, position-based association was the strongest lexical network. The findings implied that teaching vocabulary and its meanings was insufficient for expanding English language learners’ mental lexicon. The theoretical underpinning for the current investigation was based on Fairclough's (1989) three-dimensional model for Critical Discourse Analysis. The study employed qualitative research method to investigate the research questions. The data was collected by using a simple random sampling design to collect episodes from two different Pakistani dramas. The tomboys’ characters’ chosen dialogues and the language elements used were divided into three categories based on subjects in the selected episodes. The data was analysed by using the CDA model. leading to conclusions on the role of patriarchy and societal norms in shaping the representation of tomboys in Pakistani dramas. The results of the study showed the negative attitudes of society toward tomboys’ characters. They were often excluded from social groups and activities; discriminated and viewed as less feminine competent. In this research the geographical changes and its effect upon the characters has been discussed thoroughly. The study aims to explore the importance of old text with reference to present day society. In indigenization the adapter brings the issues into the spotlight. The researcher scrutinizes into the lives and actions of characters with reference to gender. The data is collected after the study of facts, events and incidents in the novel Home Fire as well as from the play Antigone. The theory of Adaptation gives a view that there is a difference between original text and adapted text. So, in this study the difference has been sorted out. Home Fire is adapted as a new form of Antigone. The study addresses the research question: How do declaratives become miratives? The question aims to elaborate the semantic composition which enables hearer to suspend the basic communicative function of declarative clause type and process it as a linguistic strategy to reach informational characterization peculiar to miratives. To address this question, the present study uses Evan’s (2009) the Lexical Concept and Cognitive Model (LCCM) as its theoretical underpinnings. This framework uses the constructs of Lexical Concept and Cognitive Model to account for the mechanisms of semantic composition for polysemous phenomena. The present work combines the LCCM theory with Gras et al.’s (2021) ‘phonological construction’ to account for the strategic realization of mirative meaning in Urdu. The study uses multiple data sources such as naturally occurring data, individual and dialogical introspections and Urdu Lughat. The study finds that to serve as miratives, declarative clauses undergo the processes of lexical concept selection, integration and interpretation for their final information characterization. Overall, the study implicates that meaning construction is a function of distinct types of information: linguistic content, conceptual content and contextual content, and the semantic compositional processes involved (selection, integration and interpretation) occur in tandem and recursively. It requires concise, persuasive, and contextual construction of sentences. This study aims to investigate the construction of concise, persuasive and generic patterns in twenty-five native and twenty-five Pakistani research articles’ abstracts. Using a mixed-method approach, fifty articles have been collected through a stratified random sampling technique. Five native journals (American Journal of Education, Applied Linguistics Journal, British Journal of Learning Disabilities, Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, and British Journal of Educational Studies) and five Pakistani journals (Pakistani Journal of Language and Translation, Al-Qualm, Humdard Islamic us, NUML Journal of Critical Inquiry, and Pakistan Journal of Social Sciences) are used for data collection. The instruments for analysis include percentages, qualitative analysis, Bitchener’s move model (2010), and AntConc. The study showed that the native and Pakistani writers equally used move structures, but differences occurred in the application of grammatical metaphor (GM) that was high in native writings. The study has provided insights into better and improved writing techniques that are required for concise and formal writing. These implications serve as a useful guide for English teachers and syllabus designers to include GM in course content for better writing skills. This quantitative research included a population of English language teachers from Punjab, Pakistan. Simple random sampling was used to select a sample of 659 participants. FIT- Choice scale, developed by Watt and Richardson (2007), was used to collect data. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Findings showed that teachers rated “prior teaching /learning experience” as a highly motivating factor along with “high demand”. A positive relationship was found between motivational factors and career choice satisfaction of early-career English language teachers. Based on regression analysis, “Social contribution” was found to be the strongest motivating factor that predicted the career choice satisfaction of early-career English language teachers followed by “perceived teaching ability” and “shape future of children”.
