It describes the domain engineering method used, the results of the domain engineering, and lessons learned. At PRC, domain engineering is applicable to software processes, beneficial to organizations at varying levels of process capability, dependent upon sustained managerial support, and helpful in evolving increasingly reusable assets.","PeriodicalId":126787,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 10th International Software Process Workshop","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1996-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133778984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reuse-based processes have significant differences from traditional product development processes. The general tendency is to structure reuse-based processes into two separate sub-processes: one at the domain level to develop a standard product family and one at the application level, to derive individual products. In addition, it is important to distinguish between the (target) reuse-based process and the reuse adoption process that manages reuse introduction. The paper considers how business objectives drive the reuse adoption process and reports how this issue is being experimentally addressed in an on-going process improvement project.","PeriodicalId":126787,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 10th International Software Process Workshop","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1996-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127607788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PML is an object-oriented language extended with associations that has been designed for process elicitation, specification, and reuse of high level process fragments. The tool enables its users to create, modify, reuse and store process models. It offers a graphical user interface and it is supported by an object-oriented database for fragment storage and consistency management. A general description of the E/sup 3/ project can be found in http://www.polito.it/-e3maint. This position paper is about software process model reuse. Reuse requirements and reuse oriented E/sup 3/ features are introduced.","PeriodicalId":126787,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 10th International Software Process Workshop","volume":"60 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1996-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116435250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
