We investigated 312 patients with colorectal cancer. Sarcopenia was determined by measuring muscle mass, grip strength, and gait speed. According to the European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP) 2010, patients were classified into four groups: nonsarcopenia, presarcopenia, sarcopenia, and severe sarcopenia. The incidence of sarcopenia and severe sarcopenia was 10.3% and 8.7%, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age, TNM stage smoking history, total protein, upper arm circumference, waist circumference, and Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) score were independently associated with sarcopenia at different stages. This was a prospective study where participants completed the symptom cluster scale at baseline, 14 weeks, and 28 weeks. A latent growth mixture modeling was used to identify trajectories of symptom clusters that were predicted, using baseline covariates (Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire). A total of 206 patients were included and identified as three latent classes: moderate symptom cluster-stable decline group (C1), high symptom cluster-rapid decline group (C2), and stable symptom cluster-stable trend group (C3). C1 was predicted by cognitive illness perceptions (odds ratio [95% confidence interval]: 1.134 [1.071, 1.200], p < .001). C2 was also predicted by cognitive and emotional illness perceptions (odds ratio [95% confidence interval]: 1.169 [1.095, 1.248], p < .001; odds ratio [95% confidence interval]: 1.174 [1.038, 1.328], p = .011). Patients with inflammatory bowel disease, initiating infliximab therapy, had different symptom cluster trajectories. Illness perceptions were associated with symptom cluster classes, which underline the complexity of symptoms. The study population consisted of individuals who presented for colonoscopy to the endoscopy department of a state hospital. The sample consisted of 160 individuals who met the inclusion criteria. Three data collection tools (Identifying Information Form, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and Health Literacy Scale) were used to determine anxiety and health literacy levels. Findings show that the state-trait anxiety of individuals who would undergo colonoscopy for the first time was moderate, and their health literacy scores were inadequate, problematic, and weak. There was a positive and significant relationship between patients' anxiety and health literacy levels. Variables such as age, gender, marital status, education level, employment status, disease-related symptoms, a family history of cancer, and fear of colonoscopy influenced anxiety and health literacy. This randomized controlled research study was conducted to determine the effect of video-assisted education on anxiety and satisfaction given before an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedure. A total of 70 patients participated between September 2017 and December 2018. Data were collected with the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and the Visual Analogue Scale. Routine education was given to the control group, while routine education and video-assisted education were given to the intervention group. There was no difference between the state anxiety scores of the groups before the procedure ( p > .05). The state anxiety level of the intervention group was lower than that of the control group after the procedure ( p < .05). There was no significant difference between the trait anxiety scores of groups before and after the procedure ( p > .05). The postprocedure trait anxiety mean score of the intervention group decreased statistically significantly compared with the preprocedure mean score ( p < .05). The mean satisfaction score after the procedure was higher in the intervention group than in the control group ( p < .05). Educational tools for this procedure have remained scarce. This quality improvement project aimed to develop an enhanced digital recording about HREM and assess the effect on patient knowledge, anxiety, satisfaction, and procedure abortion rates. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement Model for Improvement and the self-regulation theory guided this project. An interprofessional team was formed. A video recording of the pre-, peri-, and post-HREM care was created. Participants were recruited in the following four cycles: Baseline, Workstation, Manometry, and Home. Questionnaires were collected pre- and postvideo education. The results demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge from 60% to 96% ( p < .001), 58% to 96% ( p < .001), 79% to 96% ( p < .001), and 92% to 97% ( p = .02) and reductions in anxiety from 7.1 to 5.5 ( p = .003), 7.6 to 6.1 ( p = .003), 7.1 to 6.5 ( p < .001), and 6.4 to 6.1 ( p = .03) in all four groups. Almost all (99.5%) participants liked the recorded education and only 2.6% of cases were aborted during the 1-year project implementation period from June 2020 to May 2021. Findings from this project support the positive impact of recorded patient education. To date, it is quite difficult to find a protocol or a shared training program. The aim of the study was to verify requirements, types of training, and operating methods described in the literature for the administration of propofol by a nurse. A scoping review of the literature was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines and in line with Arksey and O'Malley's framework, within four main databases of biomedical interest: MEDLINE, CINAHL, Scopus, and Web of Science. We selected studies published during the last 20 years, including only nurses not trained in anesthesia. Seventeen articles were eligible. Despite the differences between the training and administration methods, efficacy and safety of deep sedation managed by trained nurses were comparable, just like when sedation was administered by certified registered nurse anesthetists. Training programs have been investigated in detail by only a small number of studies, although its efficacy and safety have been widely demonstrated.
