The test is carried out to find out whether students who were taught by using Youtube videos get better writing skill than students who are not taught by using Youtube videos. Data analysis of this research was tested by using t-test in order to find out whether the research hypothesis was accepted or not. Based on the calculation, the t-ratio is 2,998. It was consulted with t-table on the significant level (α) of 5% and the degree of freedom (df) was 38. The t-table obtained was 1,686. It proves that t-ratio is higher than t-table (2,998>1,686), so the hypothesis of the research is accepted. Furthermore, the conclusion of this research is that Youtube videos give positive effect on the writing skill to teach writing to the students who are taught by using Youtube videos. It is suggested for the teacher to apply Youtube videos in the teaching writing. It can be used to solve the students’ difficulties in writing narrative text. Therefore, the present study tried to investigate the correlation between students understanding in writing generic structure of analytical exposition and the quality of students’ writing in second grade of senior hight school. Grounded in explanatory correlational research design by Creswell (2011), this study conducted over two weeks in one of senior high school in Indramayu. Close-ended questionnaire and writing test were instruments to collect the data and it was analyzed by using SPSS 22. The statistical calculation from students understanding in writing generic stucture of the text and writing test indicated that the value of tcount was 3.23 and the value of ttable was 0.361. It can be concluded that the hypothesis was accepted because tcount 3.23 > ttable 0.361. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative research and investigates the students’ problems in listening comprehension at the fourth semester and the steps to overcome their problems. There are 23 students at the fourth semester of English Education Study Program Peradaban University in the academic year 2018/2019 as the sample. In collecting the data, the researcher uses questionnaire and interview as the instruments.The researcher finds the most problems faced by the fourth studentsare lack of concentration, native speaker speaking speed, unfamiliar words, and lack of effort to understand each word.The solution offeredto solve those problems are focus and concentrate while listening class, concentrate on what is heard, and write things that are important when listening to material spoken by native speaker; find the meanings of unfamiliar words, look at the dictionary to find out difficult words, check words that are not clearly heard in dictionary, memorize vocabulary, and read English text and listen to English audio; and familiarize the students with the rulers of pronunciation in order to help them hear the different forms of rapid natural speech and ask them to imitate native speakers’ pronunciation. It concludes that learning information about the problems and problem solving at the fourth semester are because of the fact that their learning outcomes are still far from being standard. Therefore, problem solving in listening comprehension learning is expected to minimize the problems faced by students of the fourth semester of English Education Study Program Peradaban University in learning process so that they get satisfying learning outcomes. \u0000 ","PeriodicalId":126608,"journal":{"name":"English Focus: Journal of English Language Education","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115971696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some activities will also involve some experts in certain fields, i.e. English materials expert and Sharia Banking expert. The objectives of this research study are: (1) to identify the needs in conducting a matriculation program for Sharia Banking study program which are developed; (2) to design the materials for Sharia Banking study program in accordance to the implementation of a matriculation program. Based on the findings on the needs, the matriculation program covers materials such as grammar review, and the four macro skills review. The materials provide relevant reviews which enable to show the competency of each students. In terms of the goal, it helps the students to accelerate their level to the required level to start the new semester. From research result, the average normalized gain shows up 0, 47 meaning that the design for matriculation program has an average effectiveness and can describe the competence level of Sharia Banking study program students. At last, this reference will be able to help in designing a matriculation program for Sharia Banking study program.","PeriodicalId":126608,"journal":{"name":"English Focus: Journal of English Language Education","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115593280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
