With the increasing communication needs and the convergence of communication technologies, the need to have a high bandwidth is recommended for ease of use, thus kicking away the limited-resource structures when faced with the use of service like VoIP. Our study aims at qualifying the limited-resource structures as well as broadband networks to use these unified communication platforms with a good QoS. The performance of the implemented VoIP platform allows us to conclude that VoIP can be deployed in a low-bandwidth network with additional telephone functionalities.","PeriodicalId":125742,"journal":{"name":"2018 1st International Conference on Smart Cities and Communities (SCCIC)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121483113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless,DDD operates 24 lines with roughly 100 buses per day for $120,000$ passengers. The lack of punctuality and the amount of time wasted at bus stops are a big concern. The existing information system, calledDDDT (“Dakar Dem Dikk Tracking”) based on Short Message Service (SMS) requests can predict only bus position with respect to a number of remaining bus stop. Nevertheless,DDDT is not scalable due to the huge number of sent SMS as well as their cost price. Therefore, we propose a new fleet buses management based on web mapping technology and Internet connectivity. In contrast to previous DDDT architecture, the communication between target passengers and the system is based by default on $3 G$. Each passenger is able in real time through a mobile application or a navigator to plan its trip and get updated schedule information. Furthermore,DDD staff can monitor the overall network from a dashboard that depicts buses in motion.","PeriodicalId":125742,"journal":{"name":"2018 1st International Conference on Smart Cities and Communities (SCCIC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133791112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

LoRa outdoor performance within Dakar peninsula, which covers a ground area of $83 Km ^{2}$, was evaluated based on real-life measurements. The measurements were performed with LoRa stations working in the 868 MHz ISM band using 14 dBm transmit power. Afterwards, by considering a spreading factor of 12, we observed a maximum communication range up to $10 km$ with a good Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI). Based on the collected dataset, firstly we design a channel attenuation model in order to estimate path loss. Secondly, We present a coverage-based model in which we use the results of the channel attenuation model. The obtained results show that if we fix a $-120 {dBm}$ maximum tolerated RSSI, Dakar peninsula could be fully covered with almost 40% Packet Error rate (PER). Furthermore, with $-110 {dBm}$ maximum tolerated RSSI, the PER is 20% but the whole city won’t be covered. Another base station should be added in order to have a total coverage.","PeriodicalId":125742,"journal":{"name":"2018 1st International Conference on Smart Cities and Communities (SCCIC)","volume":"30 7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127565728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In large classes (more than 1000 students), the lack of on-site teachers and classrooms to run several tutorial groups in parallel means that pedagogical activities of an academic year go on for more than 18 months. Integration of ICT in education can contribute significantly to solving the problem. We propose a technical solution that takes into account the narrowness of the bandwidth of Internet access (actually 2 Mbps). We strengthen the capacities of the NBU in IT resources and optimize their use. In this sense, we are making the intranet functional where Leaning Management System (LMS) servers can be accessed with a throughput of at least 10 Mbps from all university sites, including university residences. Optimal exploitation techniques of the Internet resource have been applied. We have conducted a thorough analysis of the causes of slow loading of pedagogical resources and learning activities and we propose technical solutions to alleviate the LMS Moodle. Thereby, on average, we managed to halve the loading time of this platform’s resources. Even actors in areas with only 2G technology can interact with the platform.","PeriodicalId":125742,"journal":{"name":"2018 1st International Conference on Smart Cities and Communities (SCCIC)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127629062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Like other social media platforms, OHCs also face, however, exodus problems where community’s members are most often moving from one community to another looking for answers to their concerns. This phenomenon is especially more noticeable in online health communities. Community’s members are connected to each other through the online discussion topics and subtopics. Since community’s members are moving from one community to the other and back, it is matter for example for the public health care system bodies to follow the movement of the health care services consumers or potential patients on the internet and, thus, determine their topics of interest with the objective to verify the information disseminated within these communities and act in the case of dissemination of wrong or life threating information. The final objective could be the improvement of the patient education material disseminated on the internet. To investigate patient’s behaviors and identify the information they are searching for and consuming on the internet, the ant colony optimization algorithm is used to detect their movements and topics of interest. Ant colony optimization algorithm (ACOA) is a probabilistic technique for solving computational problems which can be reduced to finding good paths through graphs. A community can be represented as a graph where the vertices represent the members and the edges le topics connecting members. The results of the conducted experiments shown that the proposed mobility model is more efficient, accurate, precise, and realistic than the common random mobility models. Furthermore, the test revealed a socialization enhancement as a benefit for the patient.","PeriodicalId":125742,"journal":{"name":"2018 1st International Conference on Smart Cities and Communities (SCCIC)","volume":"83 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127976237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To do this, one strategy is to use the power of information fusion techniques. This consists to combine informations from various information sources. This sensor network was deployed at the Aquaculture and Aquatic Biodiversity Research Unit (UR-ABAQ) at NAZI BONI University. The deployed sensors - permanently monitor the pH, dissolved oxygen and water temperature of a clarias (a fish species) hatchery - measure the soil moisture of banana and papaya fields - and finally measure the meteorological parameters (wind speed, air humidity, rainfall, sunshine...) of the laboratory site. The hatchery parameters collected make it possible to control the mortality of fry (sending of SMS alerts, twitter, facebook in case of exceeding the threshold of certain parameters). The soil moisture collected will optimize the watering of the fields by the water rich in fertilizers produced by the fish of the aquacultural ponds. Finally, the weather parameters will make it possible to determine the correlations between the weather parameters and the production of the banana and papaya fields.The data collected is sent on a cloud platform through a gateway equipped with a LoRa antenna and a 3G MoDem. The general architecture of the system allows users to access the application through the internet and to perform the operations on the study data. To achieve this goal, a significant amount of information is generated and stored by Information Systems. Based on this massive source of information, the new challenge could be the creation of groups or networks of people sharing the same interests. Several approaches are possible. Our approach will be to form/build communities by performing clique determinations in the graphs generated from the bipartite view of the graph created by the interactions found in the platforms. The notion of cliques in the graphs makes it possible to determine the strongly linked elements [14], [15]. It is this concept applied to the users that we want to prove/demonstrate in our study. The aim/purpose of this work is to design a powerful tool for generating and adapting social groups. We extract tracking information of individuals and their collaboration/interaction history/experience from a platform in order to create or reorganize social groups.. There are two types of interaction information to be studied and characterized, namely, tracking information and collaboration information. To achieve our goal, we used a remote learning platform with standard elements of interactions in order to draw the expected conclusions.","PeriodicalId":125742,"journal":{"name":"2018 1st International Conference on Smart Cities and Communities (SCCIC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123397678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
