The design for the study was descriptive, and the approach was quantitative. A questionnaire was administered to solicit data from 344 participants. Descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple regression analysis, were done to ascertain the averages, relationships and effects of the independent variable (organisational values) on the dependent variable (firm effectiveness). The study revealed corporate values' positive and significant effect on firm effectiveness. Besides, strategic human resource management practices mediate the relationship between organisational values and a firm's effectiveness. The implication is that firm leaders who prioritise corporate values win employees' trust, enthusiasm and commitment and can manage them strategically to achieve firm effectiveness. The interplay of organisational values, strategic human resource management, and firm effectiveness in a single study, especially in Ghana and in the institutions of higher learning context, makes this study unique. Besides, most studies on values and a firm’s effectiveness have been explorative and carried out primarily in developed economies.","PeriodicalId":124921,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Human Resource Management","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130035223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many alternative work arrangements exist (e.g., flextime, compressed workweek, shortened workweek/4-day workweek, remote work, hybrid, and job sharing). However, this study focused on a 4-day workweek. Recently, 4-day workweeks have gained momentum worldwide. In 2022, many companies piloted a 4-day workweek. Therefore, this study (1) discusses the benefits and challenges of a 4-day workweek, (2) identifies creative and innovative management strategies for implementing a 4-day workweek, and (3) indicates directions for future research.","PeriodicalId":124921,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Human Resource Management","volume":"55 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114039850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two objectives were designed for the study along with two research questions as well as two research hypotheses. Survey research design and simple random sampling techniques were used in the study. The population of the study comprised of 237 employees of AKTC and the same number was used for the sample through the Census size determination technique. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) analysis was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Results from the analysis showed that collaboration has positive and significant relationship with organizational crisis in AKTC; and restructuring has positive and significant relationship with organizational crisis in AKTC. It was concluded that human resource management strategies have positive and significant correlation with organizational crisis in AKTC. It was recommended that management of the studied organization should ensure that collaborative work relations with other organizations are properly discussed and documented in order to reduce the chance of potential crisis between the organizations; and an organizational culture that promotes continuous innovativeness should be encouraged as such culture would help to keep the organization relevant and competitive overtime.","PeriodicalId":124921,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Human Resource Management","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128211116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Primary data was utilised, while data was collected from 197 respondents being the sample size. The study adopted the survey research design, while the Ordinary Least Square statistical tool was used in testing of posited hypotheses. The findings revealed that, workplace cultural traits have significant impact on employees’ productivity and service delivery, being proxies for employees’ performance in Globacom Nigeria. The study therefore recommends that, Globacom Nigeria should carry out periodic audits of its workplace culture to ascertain continued relevance of the existing culture in the firm and to what extent the corporate values are shared among members of the organization. Globacom should introduce workplace culture profile like performance appraisal. This will constantly provide an in-depth analysis of the extent the various traits of culture (involvement, consistency, adaptability and mission) being practiced in the organization influence employee’s behaviour and productivity. This implies that the culture of teamwork, information and resource sharing, continuous building of technical and professional capacities of employees should be prioritised, to improve and sustain quality service delivery.","PeriodicalId":124921,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Human Resource Management","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124751437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study will explore the nature and extent of leadership crisis in these border towns, including the factors that contribute to the emergence and persistence of ungoverned spaces. It will also examine the challenges posed by these ungoverned spaces, including their potential to aggravate conflict, promote criminal activities, and undermine national security. The research will also explore the role of state and non-state actors in addressing the challenges of leadership crisis and ungoverned spaces in these border towns. The research adopted descriptive survey design, using a questionnaire structured on 5-point Likert’s rating scale of 5 – 1 to elicit information from respondents. The data collected, were analysed using SPSS. The tools used are frequency tables and percentage distribution. The findings of this study revealed that the insecurity situations in border towns of Ogun State largely dependent on the failure to control ungoverned spaces leading to high incidences of banditry attacks on farm settlements, villages, highways resulting in kidnapping and unwanted killings. The study recommends that Government at all levels should prioritize security in every nooks and cranny of the states which will in turn discourage activities of criminal elements in ungoverned spaces in Ogun state, the South-West and Nigeria at large, while also addressing the basic livelihood problems of poverty, inequality, and unemployment which has contributed to the problem of insecurity and threat to national security. The study will also have implications for policy and practice, highlighting the need for a more integrated and holistic approach to governance and security in border areas.","PeriodicalId":124921,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Human Resource Management","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134118403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated the effect intrinsic motivations and extrinsic motivations have on employee productivity of four selected construction companies in Delta State. To achieve its objectives, the study adopted a quantitative research approach with a survey research design. From a population figure of 242 low-level permanent employees of the four selected construction companies in Delta State, 151 constituted the sample as data were collected through a structured questionnaire using the cross-sectional approach. Descriptive statistics and simple regression analysis were used to analyze the data gathered and test the study hypotheses. Findings revealed that intrinsic motivation has a significant positive effect on employee productivity and extrinsic motivation also exerts a significant positive effect on employee productivity. Also, the most effective tools of extrinsic motivation are competitive salaries, extra work bonuses, and opportunities for promotion. Based on these findings, it was concluded amongst others, that the desire to gain mastery and contributes to societal development through construction-related activities gives low-level construction workers some level of satisfaction and financial-related incentives have an immediate and powerful effect on their performance. The key recommendation of the study is that to make a foster high level of productivity from the employee, top management should adopt a performance-based payment system and sell the benefits of contributing to societal development to the construction workers, acknowledging their contribution through noble initiatives like recognition from an authority, opportunity for mentoring, participation in decision making.","PeriodicalId":124921,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Human Resource Management","volume":"353 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127744696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, a growing body of scholarly research demonstrate the that organisations stand to gain competitive advantage if they combine the right mix of culturally embedded innovative and knowledge sharing practices. Despite the vast amount of studies that have spawned concerning innovation in SMEs, very few have been done among Agro-food SMEs in developing countries of Sub-Saharan Africa, such as Nigeria. Given the importance of the agri-food sector, particularly with respect to the many SMEs in developing countries, this study considers it fruitful to identify the typologies of innovation of such firms in Nigeria, in order for them to compete in world markets. Moreover, this study draws its relevance from the fact that agri-SMEs in Nigeria still lag behind those in developed countries in terms of innovation. Based on the reviewed literature, this study advances two conceptual frameworks for further studies on Agro-food SMEs in developing countries, viz: (i) the relationship between culturally-embedded innovation and competitiveness (ii) the relationship between knowledge-based innovation and competitiveness.","PeriodicalId":124921,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Human Resource Management","volume":"53 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114038046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article thence reflects on how society might resolve the question of the effects of misogyny on educational leadership futures and the associated possibilities, and decisively address this enervating question in the decades ahead. The paper discusses how individuals and groups are resisting and challenging their experiences of gender inequalities, as well as attempting to intervene and correct the causes and consequences of gendered power imbalances. The paper does not intend to assess all the facets of gendered life and inequality. Instead, it discusses arguments that have been put forward regarding re-engineering gender spaces for educational leadership futures. Data obtained from two all-boys’ schools suggest that gendered inequality is visible in both public and private spheres. However, the validity of the arguments that gender inequalities are still entrenched and persisting over time, place, and culture is contrasted with alternative claims from the data that gendered power relations, and for that matter inequalities, are gradually being eroded. Furthermore, the current academic focus on the concept of intersectionality regarding how variables like gender, tribe, religion, and culture intersect to define people’s gendered experiences, is used as the analytical framework. The study of women’s educational leadership experiences in this paper is used as a framework to further examine these issues and address some of the debates. The paper concludes with an argument that the study of inequality in relation to gendered identities, relations, and experiences must continue with an exploration of the study of men and masculinities if the theoretical analysis of gender is to be enriched to re-invent genders spaces for educational leadership futures. We also argue the view that to set the agenda for a more equal educational leadership future, society must see the need to link gender closely to other forms of social inequalities.","PeriodicalId":124921,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Human Resource Management","volume":"0 0 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123340036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
