Herein, a PVDF/sepiolite electrospun layer was coated on one side of the PP separator via electrospinning technology to prepare the composite separator (xMS-PVDF@PP) with sepiolite nanofibers modified with vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES) to ameliorate their dispersibility and compatibility with PVDF polymer matrix. The effect of modified sepiolite addition amounts on the physical and electrochemical properties of composite separator was intensively studied. It is found that the as-prepared xMS-PVDF@PP composite separator displays enhanced porosity, electrolyte uptake, thermal stability and Li+ ion transport kinetics than pristine PP separator. Specifically, Li|LiFePO4 battery with 20MS-PVDF@PP as separator shows the best rate and cycling performance, with a specific discharge capacity of 115.3 mAh·g–1 at 10C rate and a capacity retention rate of 97.06% after 200 cycles at 1C rate. The sepiolite in the electrospun layer can immobilize PF6– anion to facilitate the uniform distribution of Li+ ions and then inhibit the lithium dendrite growth, as well as absorb HF to alleviate Fe2+ dissolution from LiFePO4 cathode, thereby further improving the electrochemical performance of LiFePO4 battery.","PeriodicalId":12327,"journal":{"name":"Express Polymer Letters","volume":"18 6","pages":"575-591"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://doi.org/10.3144/expresspolymlett.2024.43","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147906051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hydrogen bonding interaction between PA1012 and PDP was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The effects of PDP on the crystallization, melting process, and mechanical behavior of PA1012 were tested in detail. The results show that the PDP can reduce the temperature of PA1012 crystallization and melting but it can significantly improve elongation at break and impact toughness. The notched impact strength of the PA1012/PDP composites containing 20 wt% PDP reached to 70.6 kJ·m–2, which is about seven times that of the neat PA1012. The effects of PDP on PA1012 properties is ascribed to hydrogen bonding interaction between hydrogen bonding between phenol hydroxyl groups and amino groups on PA1012 chains. The deduction was also verified by adding acetylated 3-pentadecylphenol (APDP) to modify PA1012. It is believed the research will open up new prospects for the wide application of PA1012 toughening.","PeriodicalId":12327,"journal":{"name":"Express Polymer Letters","volume":"18 7","pages":"705-714"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://doi.org/10.3144/expresspolymlett.2024.52","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147911022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The physical properties and biodegradability of these polyesters were controlled by adjusting the composition of carboxyl monomers. Compared with the homopolyesters, the addition of comonomer during polymerization resulted in the formation of copolyesters with lower melting temperatures and crystallinity. Among them, poly(butylene succinate-co-adipate) (PBSA) had the lowest crystallinity, and poly(butylene adipate-co-suberate) (PBASub) had the lowest melting point. The elongation at break and tensile strength of PBSA was 766.2% and 21.5 MPa, respectively. Enzymatic degradation by Fusarium solani cutinase (FsC) showed that both the crystalline and amorphous regions of the polyester were simultaneously degraded by FsC, and the crystal structure of the polyester was not disrupted. FsC preferentially got attached to the surface of polyesters, subsequently attacked the center of the films, and the water penetrated the amorphous region, leading to enhanced enzymatic hydrolysis. The biodegradability of copolyester was higher than that of homopolyesters. PBSA and poly(butylene succinate-co-suberate) (PBSSub) were completely degraded in about 10 h, and can be used in agricultural, automotive, electronics, biomedical materials, packaging, etc.","PeriodicalId":12327,"journal":{"name":"Express Polymer Letters","volume":"18 12","pages":"1209-1223"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.expresspolymlett.com/letolt_EPL.php?file=EPL-0013056&mi=c","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147912473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process involved the use of vanillin to create cross-linked chitosan, which was then combined with thiourea-based graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) to form a gel matrix. The resulting composite material was thoroughly characterized using various techniques, including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffractometry. To assess its efficacy, adsorption experiments were conducted to determine the capability of the synthesized compounds to adsorb Cu(II) and Cr(VI) ions. The observed results found that the adsorption process was found to follow pseudo-second-order kinetics and the Langmuir isotherm model. Through thermodynamic studies, it was revealed that the adsorption process was both endothermic and spontaneous in nature. Furthermore, desorption studies confirmed that the material could be regenerated, making it reusable. This characteristic allowed for the effective recovery of the adsorbate species and highlighted the potential for reusing the adsorbent material multiple times.","PeriodicalId":12327,"journal":{"name":"Express Polymer Letters","volume":"18 1","pages":"102-115"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://doi.org/10.3144/expresspolymlett.2024.8","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147913072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"化学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
