Basic issues related to current specification technology have been discussed in the companion paper. The current paper describes the present status of our work in validating this methodology on the control of an elevator system. An elevator system is usually equipped with a fairly large number of sensors, making it a real-scale application, but simple enough to serve in demonstrating the basic principles involved with clarity. Entire system is designed using state charts and implemented in a programmable logic device. To demonstrate the feasibility a prototype system is simulated using micro controllers and the results are presented in the paper. However, in this implementation, statecharts are only used as formal specification of control which provides the basis for functional decomposition of the program into communicating finite state machines (FSM): port structures proposed in (S. Devapriya Dewasurendra, 2006) for reconfigurable implementation are not yet incorporated. Hence, the current paper discusses primary issues of modular controller implementation using statechart specifications. Verification has been done by simulating the controller on PIC 16F877 MC in Proteous 6 for selected operations. Formal verification methodology of the previous work will be validated in the next stage of this research","PeriodicalId":122994,"journal":{"name":"First International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114149705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the major bottlenecks in the optimum performance of such high-speed routers is address lookup while performing longest prefix match. The problem is further compounded by the introduction of 128 bit addresses in IPv6 technology. Due to the importance of the address lookup problem several algorithms have been proposed in recent years. This paper presents an evaluation of state-of-art IP address lookup algorithms. Physically connected network resources are required to get the desired results. Configuration of network resources in a lab exercise consumes much time of the students and scientists. The router simulation package Crab, based on Knoppix, Quagga and user mode Linux (UML) is designed for the students to facilitate them in performing lab exercises on a standalone computer where no real network equipment is needed. In addition to that it provides the facility of connection with the real network equipments. The RIN is conventionally considered to be proportional to the square of the mean optical power. This is true under small signal, single channel conditions. Nevertheless, experiments have shown that the RIN also increases with the modulation index m that reflects the power of the stochastic modulating signal s(t). Winston Way observed this dependency and mentioned a dynamic RIN under direct modulation conditions. Accurate characterization of the RIN is important especially in MOF systems that support multiple radio channels in subcarrier multiplexed manner in addition to digital data. Modern MOF links tend to have large carrier to sideband ratio that enhances RIN. In this paper, a mathematical expression for the RIN is derived from fundamental principles that shows the dependency of RIN on modulation index m and modulating multimedia signal power E[s2(t)]. The new expression better explains the excess increment of noise power in MOF systems observed many authors","PeriodicalId":122994,"journal":{"name":"First International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116985028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists of two phases; the fuzzy inference system training using GA and the signature recognition. A sample of signatures is used to represent a particular person. The feature extraction process is followed by a selective preprocessing. The fuzzy inference system is followed by a feature extraction step. The projection profiles, contour profiles, geometric centre, actual dimensions, signature area, local features, and the baseline shift are considered as the feature set in the study. The input feature set is divided into five sections and separate five fuzzy subsystems were used to take the results. Those results are combined using a second stage fuzzy system. The fuzzy membership functions are optimized using the GA. A set of signatures consisting of genuine signatures, random forgeries, skilled forgeries of a particular signature and different signatures were used as the training set. Then, that particular optimized recognition system can be used to identify the particular signature identity. System achieved a signature recognition rate of about 90% and handled the random forgeries with 77 % accuracy and skilled forgeries with 70% accuracy. The recognition results authenticate that this is a reliable and accurate system for off-line recognition of handwritten signatures","PeriodicalId":122994,"journal":{"name":"First International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128548864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Group-oriented services over large ad hoc networks has a big impact on the needs of streaming services communication in terms of mobility, quality of service (QoS) support and multicasting. In ad hoc networks, where such features are not embedded with its architecture, it is necessary to develop QoS multicasting strategies. This paper focuses on the basic building blocks of an ad hoc group communication scheme, which achieves multicasting optimal QoS efficiency OptiQ_Policy algorithm by tracking resource availability in a node's neighborhood based on resource reservations, which announces the required QoS before each session initiation. The primary quality of service (QoS) issues such as required bandwidth, message delay, traffic type and hop count per route improves the efficiency of streaming services over ad hoc network. Streaming services support voice, data and video traffic by assessing and adjusting for various levels of QoS. The performance analysis is performed on functional prototype of QASAN ad hoc mobile wireless network with emphasis on service satisfaction for multiple group conference sessions. The performance of QASAN network is well compared with QoS-aware versions of AODV and TORA, well-known ad hoc routing and limited QoS protocols. Using the SPRUCE bandwidth traffic gathering tool, with a set of C++ modules an extensive set of performance experiments were conducted for these protocols with QASAN on a wide variety of mobility patterns and reservation strategies","PeriodicalId":122994,"journal":{"name":"First International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114304605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
