FSO technology fulfills the demands for massive bandwidth, faster data rate and low installation and maintenance cost. However, FSO transmission links for outdoor networks are vulnerable to atmospheric turbulence specifically in harsh weather conditions in which it deteriorates the performance of FSO systems. In this paper, a critical study on the performance of the FSO links in different dust storm conditions is presented. We aim to analyze the performance factors such as transmitted power control and link length that contribute to increase in signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio and bit-error-rate (BER) for On-Off Keying (OOK) modulation scheme. The results indicate that under low visibility, shorter link length performs better while increase in transmitted power contributes to small improvements. In contrast, at higher visibility, power control makes significant difference. A \"9dbm\" power increase over 1km link contributes 400m visibility improvement for OOK modulation. However, these visibility improvements will degrade proportionally as the link length is reduced.","PeriodicalId":122857,"journal":{"name":"2021 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123467876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research investigates how a dual-energy harvester that consists of piezoelectric and electromagnetic assembly could store the energy it produced so it can be used whenever necessary. The energy storage system is simulated using Simulink MATLAB that uses a half rectifier to rectify the input voltages that also work as a switching circuit using diodes for each output. The output voltage obtained from energy harvester simulations is 7.55 V and 2.92 V for piezoelectric and electromagnetic respectively. Two types of input with various levels of input (high and/or low) were tested for this energy storage system. It takes 52 minutes for the designed energy storage system to be fully charged from the dual-energy harvester. This outcome from this project provides a possibility for the dual-energy harvester to optimally store a power supply that can be used daily in portable or wearable devices.","PeriodicalId":122857,"journal":{"name":"2021 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115328866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of the most popular methods used in cellular communication for channel estimation are the Least Squares (LS) algorithm and the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) algorithm. Both of them has their own merits and limitations. While LS estimation is simple to adopt and resource-friendly, its performance is par to MMSE, which requires channel statistics and is thus more impractical for the industry. In this paper, an efficient LS estimation method is proposed by minimising relative error or difference between each estimated channel coefficient from its actual value, which is often overlooked when considering overall error. It’s in turn, reduces the error per bit and eventually induces faster processing of data. Results on the proposed algorithm are demonstrated via bit error rate and mean square error comparison.","PeriodicalId":122857,"journal":{"name":"2021 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"476 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129719772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tracks on each side of the vehicle can be driven at various speeds and direction, which enables the vehicle to change its orientation. Skid-steering tracked mobile robot platforms are especially prone to slippage when turning. Hence, a slip-compensated odometry model is usually applied to the kinematics of a skid-steering vehicle in predicting vehicle motion. The model is expected to be functional in both laboratories’ settings and real life environment. To minimize the gap between the simulation and real implementation, a Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) technique is proposed in the paper. The approach allows the interface between virtual simulation data and real skid-steering robot. The Hardware-in-the-loop simulation uses Unreal Engine (UE) to create a virtual tracked mobile robot platform and environment model. Experiment results confirmed that the developed skid steering kinematics model can control both real and simulated robot.","PeriodicalId":122857,"journal":{"name":"2021 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130883064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though, many nations have finished the clinical trials period of vaccination and started vaccination to people, still there are many uncertainties such as how these vaccines will work to the people with severe illness, which vaccine is more effective compared to others etc. Moreover, vaccination may not provide a full protection against the current situation since there are new variants of corona virus and the number of affected people increasing again. Therefore, a proper diseases detection and individual monitoring system to maintain a smart quarantine facility is still very much needed to minimise the rapid spread of covid-19 and other contagious virus. Here, wearable tools could play important roles to provide valuable information of tracking people such as real-time remote monitoring, contact tracing symptoms prediction etc. to establish and maintain a proper quarantine system. In this manuscript we proposed a geofencing system with a wristband, integrating it with IOT and GPS to trace Covid-19 patients inside a boundary. This design could be an effective quarantine solution as a home isolation system for covid-19 patients as well as the travellers who cross borders. The performance of our proposed system was measured with respect to received signal strength indication (RSSI), GPS accuracy and coverage.","PeriodicalId":122857,"journal":{"name":"2021 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125581667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

YOLACT achieves speeds higher than 30 fps in real-time with high performance in terms of precision and reliability. However, YOLACT performance is affected by the different situations in the image such as lighting, weather, and different angle on the traffic signs. This research trains and applies the image preprocessing on different angles (such as 90 degrees left and right) and environments to increase the recognition performances. This is important to ensure that the method used can be safely executed in an autonomous vehicle. For preprocessing, the backbone network uses ResNet-101 and is used in the YOLACT system to verify the performance of autonomous vehicles. Four types of traffic signs are used to validate our method. The result shows all traffic signs were successfully identified, with no mislabeled and accuracy exceeding 95%.","PeriodicalId":122857,"journal":{"name":"2021 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124348450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is caused by the swelling of the airways that result in the narrowness of the lung. Self-record and monitor of lung condition are essential for asthmatic patients to well control the disease. One way to monitor asthma condition is by using a spirometer. In this project, a digital spirometer with a mobile application that can help asthmatic patients to self-monitor and keep track of their lung condition has been developed. The device can be divided into three parts: hardware, mobile application and database. The hardware consists of NodeMCU, a pressure sensor and a mouthpiece. The analog signal from the sensor was converted to digital by the NodeMCU and sent wirelessly using wifi to smartphone and stored in a database. The lung function parameters calculated are displayed using mobile application. One normal subject aged 24 has been recruited to perform three categories of severity test using the mobile application. The categories are normal, moderate and severe, and the result showed the severity correctly according to the category compared to the theory.","PeriodicalId":122857,"journal":{"name":"2021 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133813067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It utilizes hundreds and even thousands of antennas collected in one panel. This increase in the number of antennas leads to an increase the computational complexity of the direction-of-arrival (DOA) algorithms. In this paper, two steps propose to reduce the computational complexity of two-dimensional multiple signal classification (2D MUSIC) in mMIMO systems. The first step is reducing the dimensional of the data covariance matrix by determining the optimum matrix compression factor. The second step is searching for the optimum number of noise eigenvectors used to obtain the 2D MUSIC spectrum, a uniform circular array (UCA) used as the antenna array. The simulation results indicate that the covariance matrix can be compressed two consecutive times without affecting the performance accuracy and resolution of the 2D MUSIC algorithm. Moreover, the optimum number of noise eigenvectors used in the 2D MUSIC algorithm is close to the number of signal sources.","PeriodicalId":122857,"journal":{"name":"2021 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131623084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
