However, the robots are not widespread than what we expected. Thus, common software platform is thought to be used to develop a robot system easily by developers who don't have the enough knowledge of a robot. Here, we introduce the robot development using common software platform such as robot middleware RTM and network protocol RSNP. Furthermore, the importance of the activities collaborated with community is shown.","PeriodicalId":122236,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Workshop on Advanced Robotics and its Social Impacts","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126508533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study mainly focuses on children who have some problems when they are communicating with other individuals such as hearing-impaired or autistic children. In this paper, an interactive game, which is based on sign language, between a humanoid robot and a human participant is introduced. The game consists of an imitation based learning phase where the signs are taught in the first step and they are tested in the second step within the frame of an interaction game. The goal of the interactive game is to reinforce the semantic meaning of the signs in a motivating and engaging way, as well as to test the learning performance of the participants. We aim to design a comfortable learning environment by using the humanoid robot as an educational medium. The game also improves the participants' imitation and turn-taking skills and teaches the semantic meanings of the signs.","PeriodicalId":122236,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Workshop on Advanced Robotics and its Social Impacts","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114335847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
