Reynaldo Ileto already made a powerful critique on such perspective by analyzing the mentalité of the pobres y ignorantes, and showed that they indeed possessed a certain worldview that was far different from that of the Ilustrados of the Propaganda Movement. Ileto, however, remained within the limits of the Catholic ideology and its appropriation by the masses in the 19th century. This paper aims to study ginhawa, a Filipino concept, as both a concept and an ideology. The paper argues that ginhawa was used by the natives in interpreting the workings of colonialism.

While ‘synodality’ has long been a promising Church trajectory, it disrupts and challenges the current status quo in local churches. Moreover, the process of ‘synodality’ is transformative and enriching as it fosters greater engagement of the people at the peripheries of the Church’s life and mission. \u0000People in the margins are often perceived as passive participants in the life of the Church and, as it were, on the receiving end. However, the Church’s plans, thrusts, and decisions, whether on a personal level or socio-political and economic affairs, have always involved active and influential parish members and organizations. The ‘influential’ constitutes the majority’s voice in church ministries, activities, and projects. On the other hand, the voices of the underprivileged carry, if any, little weight in the discussion. \u0000This paper critically examined avenues for dialogue initiated by the local churches for the synod, allowing the marginalized to sit at the discussion table. It scrutinized a ‘synodal’ Church as it unveiled the mental structures that create categories of marginalization. In the hope of appropriating ‘synodality’ into authentic forms of encounter, solidarity, and dialogue, Koselleck’s ‘space of experience’ and ‘horizon of expectation’ brought into light female narratives in the ‘synodal’ discourse, enabling the process of becoming a ‘synodal’ Church, a desired horizon of the future.

This is reflected by the different international conventions relating to the protection of human rights adopted and acceded to by different States. However, despite the existence of international mechanisms towards ensuring that human rights are properly protected, without distinction as to any socio-cultural nuances, accounts of human rights violation throughout history and across different niches has remained prevalent. \u0000 \u0000In particular, the plight of stateless persons, who are suffering or are vulnerable to suffer from significant discrimination as regards their capacity to properly enjoy and exercise basic human rights, has garnered international attention throughout the years and has been regarded as an international humanitarian crisis that require swift and comprehensive response. In consonance thereto, the 1954 Convention Relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness were adopted and acceded to by different countries. \u0000 \u0000The Philippines is a Contracting Party to these international conventions. Throughout the years, the country has been a host to hundreds of thousands of stateless persons and persons at risk of statelessness (collectively known as persons of concerns of POCs). In compliance with its obligations under the aforementioned international conventions, the Philippines has adopted a number of domestic measures and policies for the purpose of providing protection to POCs. \u0000 \u0000However, while PH has adopted certain domestic measures to provide protection to POCs, the current state of the protective mechanisms afforded to them has negatively magnified institutional gaps in the implementation and fulfillment of the country’s obligations under the relevant international conventions. It investigates the dynamics and movements in the relationship between Divine and human reality. For the Divine reality, it investigates God’s Hesed in the covenantal promise, particularly with Abraham, and its fulfillment in Jesus Christ, who will come on the last days. In human reality, the Shema and commandments are explored together with Emunah and Hineni as the human response to God’s faithfulness. Also, it investigates the tradition of zealousness for God, having no idols, and living a moral life. The key to human reality is conformity to Jesus Christ and having faith like that of Jesus in the Father, through which there is justification and participation. Maranatha is the human disposition to the parousia of the Lord. Finally, the paper investigates the eschatological dimension of One God, One People, and One Future: the new creation, new heaven and earth, new mind, and new ways of relating called the Church.

Gen. Antonio Parlade, Jr., spokesperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, issued a statement that 18 universities in the Philippines, including Far Eastern University, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, and Ateneo de Manila University – serve as recruiting grounds by the legal fronts of the Communist Party of the Philippines for the New People’s Army. In response to this, a joint statement was made reaffirming the universities’ commitment to defend democracy and nation-building, further reminding the government that autonomy and independence from the state must nonetheless be retained.
Such conceptual discordance leads to issues that give rise to three philosophical endeavors, to wit: first, a pedagogical determination of the role of education as a vital catalyst of stability and change in contemporary times; second, a resolution of the possible human rights conflict between individual/ institutional academic freedom and the constitutional mandate of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to secure the integrity of the national territory; and third, a re-evaluation of the notion of academic activism and its relevance/ danger to the citizen’s adherence to the provisions of the Philippine Constitution. The reader looks into the movement in the scriptural text as one pays attention to the interiorization of God’s reality in the human person. However, it is not an unidirectional inward movement but a receptivity that leads to responsiveness and responsibility. The movements, moments, and layers of interiorization unfold through the examination of Hebrew terms - Shema, Hesed, Hakkadosh, Hineni, Emunah, Teshuvah, Yirah, and Tamim.
The paper provides the visual representation and translates the dynamics of interiorization in the reciprocal spiritual relation into Scriptural Reading through frames of questions. Through the phenomenological method and dialogic reading, the paper intends to broaden the understanding of interiorization and its application within the framework of Biblical Spiritual Hermeneutics.

Santos was labeled as a conservative who resisted change, especially during the last half of his stewardship as archbishop of the Archdiocese of Manila. In an era when the Catholic world was beset by the liturgical revival movement and other social movements of the 1960s, Santos strived to preserve his role as a Church militant while the Philippine ecclesiastical hierarchy veered towards making the Catholic Church responsive to the contemporary social ills. The present study uses the historical method framed by Arnold Toynbee’s Challenge and Response theory to discuss, narrate, and analyze how the first Filipino Cardinal preserved the unity and tradition of pre-Vatican II ideals while ironically, being an active participant in the four Vatican II Council Sessions. This study contextualizes how Santos’ adherence to unity and uniformity was driven by his intent to avoid confusion among the priests and the laity and how this intent steered him to spearhead the introduction of the Misa ng Bayan, the first Tagalog translation of the Holy Mass in 1966, as he defied his critics, and ultimately brought the Philippines into the threshold of change that Vatican II envisioned.

At the heart of Montfort's teaching is the understanding that Mary, as the Mother of Jesus and our spiritual mother, plays a vital role in our journey toward God. Through the act of consecration, we entrust ourselves entirely to Mary's care and guidance, acknowledging her as our advocate, intercessor, and protector. This act of consecration is not a mere formality but a profound commitment to live our lives in imitation of Mary's virtues, surrendering our will to hers and allowing her to lead us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. By consecrating ourselves to Mary, we open ourselves to her powerful maternal love, inviting her to mold and shape us into instruments of God's grace, and to deepen our relationship with her Son. In essence, the consecration to Mary is an invitation to walk the path of holiness under her guidance, trusting in her maternal care as we strive to live authentic Christian lives. In St. Louis Montfort’s teaching, there exist two vital elements of the Totus Tuus consecration, namely: the nature of the consecration and the practices of the consecration. It has four fundamental characteristics that remarkably reflect the scriptural aspect of the consecration. There are also the so-called interior and exterior practices that provide people the knowledge of how to concretely bring the consecration to reality.
