In order to understand international differences in mathematics skill levels, it is necessary to take cultural differences into account. There are countless ways that culture can have an effect on mathematical skills, from influencing learning in different contexts to early counting skills in different languages. Toplumlarin gelecek nesillerinin insasinda en buyuk yuku ceken derslerden biri sosyal bilgilerdir. Hedef kitlesindeki ogrencilerin icinde bulunduklari gelisim donemleri dikkate alindiginda ogrenmelerin somut ogrenme, yaparak yasayarak ogrenme temelli olmasinin onemi asikârdir. Bu sebeple ogrenme ortamlarinin tasarlanmasi ve duzenlenmesi de buyuk onem arz etmektedir. Sosyal bilgiler ogretiminin ilkokul ayaginda saglam temellere oturmasinin ortaokul ogrenmeleri icin hayati onem tasidigina inanilmaktadir. Bu sebeple sinif ogretmenlerinin ilkokulda ogrenme ortami tasarlama beceri ve kabiliyetlerinin sorgulanmasi ve iyilestirilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu baglamda arastirmanin amaci, sinif egitimi ogretmen adaylarinin zihinlerinde tasarladiklari sinif/ogrenme ortami algilarini sosyal bilgiler dersi ozelinde belirlemektir. Arastirma, bir devlet universitesinin egitim fakultesi sinif egitimi ana bilim dali 3. sinifinda ogrenim goren toplam 72 (kadin, 54; erkek, 18) gonullu ogretmen adayi ile yurutulmustur. Durum calismasi olarak duzenlenen arastirmada veri toplama araci olarak, arastirmacilar tarafindan gelistirilen “Sinif Egitimi Ogretmen Adaylarinin Ogrenme Ortamina Iliskin Dusuncelerini Belirleme Anketi” kullanilmistir. Verilerin analizinde icerik ve betimsel analiz birlikte kullanilmistir. Veri toplama araci ile elde edilen bulgular, sosyal bilgiler ogretiminde ogrenme ortami ve sosyal bilgiler ogretiminde materyal kullanimi ust basliklari altinda ele alinmistir. Sosyal bilgiler ogretiminde ogrenme ortami; ogrenme ortaminin rolu ve ogrenme ortaminin uygunlugu, etkisi baglaminda degerlendirilmistir. Sosyal bilgiler ogretiminde materyal kullanimi basligi ise kullanilabilecek materyaller, materyal kullanimi genel gorusler, materyal kullaniminin amaclari, materyal kullanmanin ogrenmeye etkisi ve materyal kullanimi ile kazanilacak deger, beceri ve kavram alt basliklari altinda ele alinmistir.
