Activities of a module can be made possible or can be prevented by another module through conditions. One sided synchronization of modules is done by signal-events, which cause the execution of actions in steps. But due to use of conditions and signal-events it is possible, that the simultaneous firing of steps leads to markings, which are not reachable by normal interleaving. We give a criterion, in which situations simultaneous firing of steps can be safely omitted, without missing reachable markings.","PeriodicalId":119106,"journal":{"name":"1999 7th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation. The proposed canceller is based on a usual bank of digital adaptive notch filters, each filter tuned in the cancellation of one harmonic. The amplitude and phase of each harmonic is adaptively adjusted by an LMS-based algorithm. Moreover, the central frequency of each notch filter is also adaptively adjusted (fine tuning). The resulting algorithm, tested in an industrial application, shows effectiveness in cancelling unknown periodic disturbances, reducing environmental noise and maintenance problems.","PeriodicalId":119106,"journal":{"name":"1999 7th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation. The transmission of images allows powerful remote monitoring capabilities in industrial environments, while the utilization of the versatile MMS protocol gives the system great flexibility and tight integration into factory networks. The VQI system is designed to detect defects on the surface drawings of dishes printed automatically by industrial series production. Quality inspection must be accomplished online, so a parallel implementation is proposed to speed up processing. The paper briefly introduces the algorithms employed to accomplish the various steps of quality inspection, focusing on the parallel implementation of such algorithms and the digital signal processor (DSP) platform employed. The results of the experimental tests show classification abilities of the proposed algorithms, as well as performance times for the DSP based hardware platform and parallelization efficiency of VQI algorithms.","PeriodicalId":119106,"journal":{"name":"1999 7th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation. The adaptive optimal control of the differential drive of the vehicle contributes to improve the guidance system safety and reliability. In order to develop the tool, it was necessary to build simulation model of the entire car factory. At the beginning of the paper, the logistic parameters are defined. Nowadays, these parameters are used in the car industry. Later, the followed steps in the general factory modelling process are explained. Afterwards, the model created in the project is detailed. The next point indicates how can be fulfilled a general factory analysis with a simulation model. Finally, an example is described and experimental results are showed.","PeriodicalId":119106,"journal":{"name":"1999 7th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation. Given two markings M and M: we want to find the weighted shortest firing sequence that leads from M to M'. We tackle this problem with a two step-procedure : first the optimal characteristic vector is computed, and then a sequence is built. We focus on state machines and live marked graphs. Efficient algorithms based on graph theory are presented to solve the first step. We also give a reachability result based on balanced firing sequences that are dominant for every marked graph. Finally we show that the problems solved at each step are separately NP-hard in the strong sense.","PeriodicalId":119106,"journal":{"name":"1999 7th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation. In this paper, the proposed constrained self-tuning controller deals with not only the quality control but quantity control as well. This is accomplished by inserting a energy term into the quadratic performance index. The self-tuning controller designed according to this performance index bases on a time-series model characterizing relationship between the feed rates and the moduli values. Due to the technological constraints, a optimization problem is formed to compute the control signal. The optimization problem is solved to obtain the least expensive and if possible the least sensitive mix of the raw materials that satisfies the quality requirements of the raw meal under incomplete and stochastic information of the different raw material component concentrations, and further move in real time.","PeriodicalId":119106,"journal":{"name":"1999 7th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation. The investigated systems are transfer lines without buffers and with parallel and sequential operations at each workstation. Manufacturing operations for a workstation are partitioned into blocks. All operations of the same block are performed simultaneously, and different blocks are executed sequentially. The relations of necessity and possibility of combining operations in one block and in one workstation as well as precedence constraints are given. Operation time of a block depends of assigned operations, while the operation time of a workstation is the sum of operation times of its blocks. The problem is to minimize the weighted total number of workstations and blocks, providing a given cycle time and satisfying the above constraints. The proposed method is based on reducing the initial problem to the shortest constraint path problem.","PeriodicalId":119106,"journal":{"name":"1999 7th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation.
