International conventions (IMO) and energy efficiency standards set challenges to shipping sector, to ship owners and ship designers, to offer propulsion concepts which will effectively reduce or completely eliminate emission rates and increase energy efficiency with acceptable technological costs and adjustment time. New concepts include environmental friendly fuels in existing propulsion architecture, hybrid propulsion and all-electric propulsion architecture with the possible application of renewable energy sources, which are reviewed in this paper. Each concept has advantages and disadvantages regarding adjustment time, implementation cost and energy storage system capacity. The conclusion of this paper is that the Internal Combustion (IC) engines won't be completely replaced in the shipping sector in middle term, but will be able to use environmental friendly fuels or fuels without global carbon footprint, such as e-ammonia, blue-ammonia and bio-methanol as the most promising carbon-neutral fuels in the decarbonization path.","PeriodicalId":119005,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116994904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With appropriate mitigation strategies and technical interventions, the livestock sector can achieve a substantial level of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reduction. There are several tools and techniques available to quantify the GHG emissions from livestock farms. In this work, we provide an overview of the existing models for quantifying livestock-related GHG emissions. We, furthermore, discuss the role of precision livestock farming (PLF) in reducing the environmental emissions from livestock farms and identify the associated challenges. We list and discuss the commonly used sensor devices in PLF, along with their usage in GHG emissions mitigation. Finally, we identify quality issues and analytical complexities associated with sensor data as typically observed challenges with PLF.","PeriodicalId":119005,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125082164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For selecting the most cost-effective RFID tags, we develop a standard procedure for use in museums. This involves the measurement of the read ranges of various tags attached on different substrates and the study of the relationship between tag range and tag price. Our tests indicate that wet inlay tags represent the most cost-effective solution; even for attachment to conductive artifacts with the use of insulating material. Taking into account the experimental results and the need for safeguarding the antiquities in general, we propose various methods of attachment of the tags to the artifacts. Our study contributes to current cultural heritage practices since this is the first time that the development of a standard-practice for using RFID technology in a full museum collection is attempted.","PeriodicalId":119005,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126044797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to this, the present paper carried out comparative tests between four algorithms to solve the Traveling Salesman Problem applied to tourist places in the region. The general objective is to verify which of the algorithms obtained the best performance, measured through the execution time, to find an optimal route between a set of tourist sites. The studied algorithms were Brute Force, Ant Colony Optimization, Genetic Algorithm, and 2-OPT algorithm. We modeled the Traveling Salesman Problem using graphs and distances and captured real locations using Google Maps. The results showed the faster 2-OPT algorithm during tests, although any of the tested algorithms can perform this function, depending on the number of points of interest. This work is a basis for future optimized tourist itinerary planner applications.","PeriodicalId":119005,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125368518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This crisis is imminently attained to the high concentrations of glucose. In fact, under the theoretical assumption that the ions of glucose molecules push out giant molecules of albumin then one might to expect a direct dependence among them from classical electrodynamics basis. In this paper, this dependence and the physics-based relationships are derived. The theoretical result of this paper would be of interest in all those new applications of advanced sensors that might be able to measure status of both glucose and albuminuria. Thus, one can carry out a complete diagnostic of kidney status from glucose values. The paper presents theoretical predictions of glucose and albumin interactions while both of them are located along the renal glumerulus.","PeriodicalId":119005,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130643246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

What we are now witnessing is an undoubted change of trend towards a decentralized and decarbonized electric grid, where the electric generation based on local resources will take on special relevance. In this context, the encouragement of collective self-consumption becomes one of the key issues when it comes to taking steps forward to this end. One of the aspects that will contribute to this aim is the development of a consumption-forecasting tool. Hence, a load-forecasting model based on NARX Neural Network is proposed in the following paper. The prediction of the next day (24h) load profile of an individual building is carried out aiming an optimal management of the flexible loads so to achieve the maximum self-consumption. To ensure a consistent behavior of the NARX Neural Network model, identification and removing of outliers, together with data normalization and fixing common time interval has been carried out. The first results of the research are promising, being obtained a 17,6% MAPE in NARX and 25,19% with LSTM model, both evaluated during a regular week on winter in adverse conditions.","PeriodicalId":119005,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126221037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under the assumption that nanoparticles can be electrically charged because their ionic composition, any specific task for delivering a certain amount of biochemical compounds might to involve additional electrical interactions that would limit the efficiency of the action of delivery. In this manner, the apparition of repulsive electrical forces would be translated as the fail of the task. Therefore, nanoparticles would have to be engineered with a minimal response to electrical forces, so that one expects that nano cargo accomplishes its main role at Nanomedicine.","PeriodicalId":119005,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129975292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
