Предпринимается попытка рассмотреть мотивы, по которым отправлялись в паломничество сибиряки, организационные и бытовые трудности, с которыми им приходилось сталкиваться. Приводятся подробности пребывания паломников на Русских подворьях в Иерусалиме, раскрываются финансовые условия, делавшие возможным успешное путешествие в Палестину и обратно. На основе источников личного происхождения описываются впечатления жителей Западной Сибири от посещения Святых мест. Отмечается, что число паломников из западно-сибирских губерний достигало нескольких десятков человек в год. Характеризуется социальный, возрастной состав паломников, местная специфика, заключавшаяся в преобладании среди богомольцев мужчин, наличии среди них небольшого числа представителей коренного населения Сибири. Отмечается, что подавляющее число паломников составляли крестьяне, лица пожилого возраста. Показано, что в рассматриваемый период, благодаря деятельности Императорского Православного Палестинского общества, повышению качества обслуживания паломников, развитию путей сообщения поездки сибиряков в Палестину хотя и не стали массовым явлением, но, тем не менее, утратили характер экстраординарного события. English Abstract: The article elaborates upon organization and stages of pilgrimage of West Siberian residents to Palestine at the end of XIX – beginning of XX century. The article outlines local peculiarities of pilgrims, such the predominance of men, including a small number of indigenous residents of Siberia. It is noted that the vast number of pilgrims were farmers and elderly people. The paper demonstrates the contribution of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society to improvement of pilgrimage routes and services to pilgrims during the above mentioned timeframe. Despite the fact that those the pilgrimages didn’t become a widespread phenomenon, they seized to be something of an extraordinary nature.","PeriodicalId":118874,"journal":{"name":"SRPN: Other Socially Responsible Investment (Topic)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124076251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A rising world population coupled with climate change creates growing pressure on global world food supplies. States alleviate this pressure domestically by attracting agri‐foreign direct investment (agri‐FDI). This is a high‐risk strategy for weak states: the state may gain valuable foreign currency, technology and debt‐free growth; but equally, investors may fail to deliver on their commitments and exploit weak domestic legal infrastructure to ‘grab’ large areas of prime agricultural land, leaving only marginal land for domestic production. A net loss to local food security and to the national economy results. This is problematic because the state must continue to guarantee its citizens' right to food and property. Agri‐FDI needs close regulation to maximise its benefit. This article maps the multilevel system of governance covering agri‐FDI. We show how this system creates asymmetric rights in favour of the investor to the detriment of the host state's food security and how these problems might be alleviated.","PeriodicalId":118874,"journal":{"name":"SRPN: Other Socially Responsible Investment (Topic)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133397777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We choose two countries, Japan and Sweden; Japan is the largest donor of environmental ODA, and Sweden is a role model of this type of ODA provision. From the CRS data, we find that many major donors have expressed interest in environmental ODA as time passes. However, each country has its own environmental ODA policies. The Japanese environmental ODA determinants and its policies can be summarized as follows. First, whereas Japan is the world’s largest donor of environmental ODA, the amount of giving to Africa has been relatively small. That is, Japan has not been interested in the environmental issues in Africa for years. Second, the amount of trade significantly affects the decision to grant environmental ODA for Africa. This implies that the economic relationship between Japan and its recipient countries is a major factor in determining whether Japan provides environmental ODA or not. Third, recently Japan seems to have changed its environmental ODA policy for Africa. For example, Japan announced that it would increase the amount of environmental ODA for Africa at the 3rd and 4th TICADs. Fourth, Japan provides environmental ODA for resource-poor rather than resource-rich African countries. For instance, Nigeria, a major oil exporter, got relatively little environmental ODA from Japan, while it is the number 1 recipient country in Africa of ODA from Japan.On the other hand, the Swedish environmental ODA determinants and its policies can be summarized as follows. First, Sweden, with extensive experience providing ODA, has focused on environmental mainstreaming, even though the size of ODA is relatively small. Second, the Swedish environmental ODA has been meeting the needs of recipient countries. To investigate their individual needs, Sweden often holds a policy dialogue with recipients. Fourth, the ratio of the total amount of ODA to environmental ODA continues to maintain a certain level and converges to a small number. However, Japan’s number does not; this number is stable due to the fact that Sweden many times has held policy dialogues to persuade the recipient countries to satisfy their needs. Our findings give the following implications. First, Korea has to reflect the issues of the environmental mainstreaming to the ODA policy. By doing so, Korea can grow to become one of the significant donors in this field. In particular, Korea must note that Japan has expressed the will to take part in environmental ma","PeriodicalId":118874,"journal":{"name":"SRPN: Other Socially Responsible Investment (Topic)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128049158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aforementioned article begins with the following question: “What are the fundamental causes of the large differences in income per capita across countries?” (ACEMOGLU et al. 2000). By taking the article of Acemoglu et al (2000) as an inspiration, this study aims to verify a relationship also between the institutional environment and economic performance, but in this case verifying the relationship of simultaneity between the number of journalists killed, influencing property rights and these determining the flow of foreign direct investments (FDI). Based on this relationship, we make an attempt to answer the following research question: What are the fundamental causes of the differences in the receipt of foreign direct investments among developing countries? Through the theoretical framework of the NIE and the political science and by conducting a series of quantitative analyzes, following the simultaneous equations model with data from 75 developing countries over ten years (2000-2010), we found that the number of journalists killed is an appropriate variable to instrumentalize the FDI. Thus, it is concluded that countries that best ensure the right to life and freedom of the press better safeguard property rights in their territories and consequently attract higher volumes of foreign direct investment.","PeriodicalId":118874,"journal":{"name":"SRPN: Other Socially Responsible Investment (Topic)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123040403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering that local associations around the world have been directly engaged on some infrastructure projects – some scholars define it as “semi-formal finance” – the intention is to demonstrate that the experiences on such arrangements in developing countries have been responsible for fostering infrastructure investments in the poorer regions where the government is more absent. Based upon legal, economic and social aspects, this paper aims to contribute to a broader debate for the development of infrastructure in emerging countries. The conclusion is that, under a more social approach, the legal and economic mechanisms in developing countries are able to consider such arrangements in the benefit of their development.","PeriodicalId":118874,"journal":{"name":"SRPN: Other Socially Responsible Investment (Topic)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134455532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, we analyse optimal public policy in light of the fact that index insurance policies are typically credence goods - that is, the basis risk of a given policy cannot be distinguished by consumers before purchase and only to a limited extent after purchase. We discuss two potential market failures that stem from this property that governments may seek to correct: low takeup and low investment in reducing basis risk. In each case, we consider the costs and benefits of various alternative government policies. We show that policies aimed to improve take-up may improve or worsen incentives for investment, and that the precise nature of these effects will depend on the government’s ability to commit, the marginal cost of funds, and their potential to identify the inputs necessary for constructing a high quality index.","PeriodicalId":118874,"journal":{"name":"SRPN: Other Socially Responsible Investment (Topic)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123798016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The emphasis is not only on how European priorities are taken into account by ESF national programming documents (talking the EU talk), but also on how these priorities are translated into concrete actions at the local level (walking the walk). This article pursues this emphasis by combining mainstream studies on the impact of Europe (top-down Europeanisation) with studies on political usages (usages of Europe). This combination reveals new dynamics at work, such as the usages by Europe, and gives a more complete picture of the implementation process. Empirical evidence is drawn from documentary and database analysis and from interviews carried out at the European level and in two member states (France and Spain).","PeriodicalId":118874,"journal":{"name":"SRPN: Other Socially Responsible Investment (Topic)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117264357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper’s findings indicate that over the past decade the increase in competition from SR entrants has been associated with an increase in fees but not in capital flow. Moreover, our results show that the increase in the number of SR fund entrants does not have a negative impact on fund performance. This finding implies that despite the significant increase in the number of SR funds entering the market, open and free competition fosters the performance of SR fund participants. Our study concludes that despite the recent growth in the number of SR funds, the SR mutual fund market does not exhibit the key features of a competitive market.","PeriodicalId":118874,"journal":{"name":"SRPN: Other Socially Responsible Investment (Topic)","volume":"431 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132297935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
