Evaluation of Laparoscopic retroperitoneal approach for management of various renal calculi must be done to get the efficacy of the procedure according to the calculus and renal morphology. \u0000Aims: The aim of present study was to evaluate laparoscopic retroperitoneal approach for management of various renal calculi. \u0000Methods: Laparoscopic retroperitoneal pyelolithotomy/nephrolithotomy was performed on 58 patients with various renal calculi patterns viz. solitary pelvic calculus, staghorn calculus, staghorn calculus with calyceal and isolated calyceal calculi. Extended pyelolithotomy, Gilvernet’s technique were used as per the need. \u0000Results: Out of the 58 cases with renal calculi, solitary renal pelvic stones (n=23; 39.7%) were most common followed by staghorn (n=11; 19% Mean size 4.40±1.17 cm) and isolated caliceal stones (n=9; 15.5% with Mean size2.21±0.25 cm) respectively. There were 15 (25.9%) cases with mixed stones (11 cases solitary renal pelvic and isolated caliceal stones and 4 cases had staghorn and isolated caliceal stones). Stone clearance was 93.3 to 100%. \u0000Conclusions: laparoscopic retroperitoneal approach is a useful modality for clearance of renal calculi of different types with minimum complications and a high success rate. However, the technique seems to have a limited role for isolated caliceal stones where direct or C-arm guided nephrolithotomy can be performed for better clearance of stones.

Incidence of cancer has been growing globally due to consumption of tobacco, alcohol, radiation, chemicals, viral infections, obesity and immunosupression. Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is one of the many cancers that humans suffer with. With the increasing number of health conditions that eventually lead to immunosupression and exposure to potential risk factors, the incidence of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma has increased. It’s multivariate and misleading presentation in the head and neck region is a diagnostic nightmare. Early diagnosis is possible with critical evaluation of the presenting symptoms even in disseminated cases. Fine needle aspiration cytology should be unhesitently performed that may lead the physician in opting for more confirmative histological and radiological investigations. Standard therapeutic regimens seem to work well with patients diagnosed early, however risk of relapse looms over the future. The contents of this chapter focus on the maxillofacial and head and neck manifestations of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which are not frequently encountered.

Here, we evaluated coagulase-negative Staphylococcus strains and the corresponding antibiotic susceptibility profiles in clinically suspected cases of neonatal sepsis. The objectives of the study were to determine the significance of coagulase-negative Staphylococcus strains isolated from cases of neonatal sepsis, another isolation site for coagulase-negative Staphylococcus other than blood culture and their susceptibility pattern. In a prospective study of newborns admitted to our neonatal Intensive Care Unit between January 20th, 2017, and January 20th, 2019, we analyzed all cases of sepsis with a positive blood culture, and available stool, central venous catheter, tracheobronchial, and nasopharyngeal fluid. Strains were identified using Matrix-Assisted-Laser Desorption Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry. Antimicrobial susceptibility patterns were recorded and analyzed. Of 157 premature newborns enrolled in the study, 28 (17.8%) had a coagulase-negative Staphyloccus-positive blood culture. Eighteen (64.2%) presented with early onset sepsis and 10 (35.8%) presented with late onset sepsis. Based on the gestational age at birth, there were 10 (35%) extremely preterm newborns, 12 (42.8%) very preterm newborns, and 6 (21.5%) moderately preterm newborns. The birth weight was extremely low in 13 (46.4%), very low in 9 (32.2%), low in 4 (14.2%), and normal 2 (7.2%). All coagulase-negative Staphylococcus isolates showed high levels of resistance to cefoxitin (100% of the strains), aminoglycosides (100%), fusidic acid and, ofloxacin (100%). The isolates were highly susceptible to pristinamycin (100% of the strains), vancomycin (100%) and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (100%). Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus isolates constituted the most frequent cause of neonatal sepsis. The abundance of these strains may contribute to the emergence of multi-drug resistance.

Little is known about the heterogeneity in trauma and health risk experiences among delinquent youth, especially across gender. The current study uses latent class analysis to examine typologies of self-reported exposure to trauma and health risks among a sample of 435 female and 1,198 male juvenile offenders. The study objectives were to identify any subgroups of justice-involved youths with varying patterns of trauma and health risk behaviors across gender, examine the size of these trauma-health risk subgroups, and examine socio-demographic differences in the trauma-health risk latent classes. Findings suggest the presence of three groups of trauma and health risk behaviors within the gender groups. For females, the three subgroups demonstrated linear trends in increasing prevalence of trauma and health risks. For males, the three subgroups reflected a generally low-risk group, a group with high rates of marijuana use and risky sexual behaviors, and a group with high rates of depression, family problems, sexual assault victimization, and bullying. The analyses for the covariates revealed racial differences in trauma and health risks. The findings suggest gendered intervention strategies should be considered for justice-involved youth.

The surgery and chemotherapy components were equalized in both groups. The 34% and 11% of 5-years survival was obtained at low dose half body irradiation for primary and relapsed patients in comparison with conventional local radiotherapy (7% and 0%). It is a rare form of internal male pseudohermaphroditism caused by defect in synthesis or action of Mullerian inhibiting factor due to which Mullerian derivatives such as uterus, fallopian tube and upper vagina are normally present in 46XY males. PMDS has an autosomal recessive inheritance. Screening of the siblings is necessary. Familiarity of operating surgeon with this disease condition would increase the chances of correctly diagnosing the case. Distinguishing PMDS from other intersex disorder is critical. A karyotyping and assessment of testicular response to chorionic gonadotropin stimulation are essential to verify both genetic sex and existence of functional testicular tissue. Here we report a 7 year old male presenting with bilateral undescended testes.
