Despite this fact, quite an amount of energy is wasted in todays UEs analog and digital frontends. Those are engineered for extracting the wanted signal from a spectral environment defined in the corresponding communication standards with their extremely tough requirements. In a real receiving process those requirements can typically be considered as dramatically less critical. Knowledge about the actual environmental spectral conditions allows to reconfigure both frontends to the actual needs and to save energy. In the recent past several approaches solving this issue for Long Term Evolution systems using multiplier free multi rate low cost filter banks have been discussed. In this paper we present a co-simulation environment for an efficient hardware implementation of the proposed algorithms using Matlab and two Field Programmable Gate Array platforms. The specific hardware setup as well as the used communication protocols between hardware and software are discussed.","PeriodicalId":117809,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Joint INDS'11 & ISTET'11","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115476521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The total field in the space outside the elliptic cone is determined as an eigenfunction expansion, and the scattered far field is obtained by a single integration over the induced surface currents. The final free-space-type expansion is not converging in the usual sense but a linear series transformation due to Cesàro is applied to obtain a meaningful and consistent limiting value. The eigenvalues of the underlying two-parametric eigenvalue problem with two coupled Lame´ equations belong to the Dirichlet- or the Neumann condition and can be arranged as so-called eigenvalue curves. It has been found that the eigenvalues can be separated into a first type, where the eigenfunctions look very similar to free-space modes and do not contribute to the scattered field and into a second type relevant for the scattered field. Similar non-contributing parts also occur in the Physical-Optics approximate solution of the scattering problem. As shown in this paper these observations allow to significantly improve the accuracy of the calculated scattering coefficients.","PeriodicalId":117809,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Joint INDS'11 & ISTET'11","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128372239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The microwaves applied in this method as the source of energy, effectively shorten the time needed to receive observable thermal image at the surface of examined specimen. In this paper, above method's application to landmines' detection will be considered. In this case, the microwave generator, connected to rectangular waveguide is used to heat the ground's surface. Obtained thermal pattern should be characterized by uniform temperature distribution. This condition can be met by applying an appropriate waveguide flange, ensuring an even distribution of EM field. In this article genetic algorithm-based optimization will be applied to determine the box-horn based flange's dimensions.","PeriodicalId":117809,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Joint INDS'11 & ISTET'11","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121599308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, the process of radiogram analysis is performed by qualified human operators and automatic systems are still under development. In this work we present advanced algorithms for automatic segmentation of radiographic images of welded joints. The goal of segmentation of a radiogram is to change and simplify representation of the image into a form that is more meaningful and easier to analyse automatically. The radiogram is divided into parts containing the weld line, image quality indicators, and possible defects. Then, each part is analysed separately by specialized algorithms within the framework of the Intelligent System for Radiogram Analysis.","PeriodicalId":117809,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Joint INDS'11 & ISTET'11","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130759936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method reduces to solving an associated interval linear programming problem. It has been shown that its numerical complexity is not a priori exponential: if certain sufficient conditions are valid, it is, in fact, polynomial. Numerical evidence indicates that the method suggested can be an alternative to the widely used Monte-Carlo method since the former method provides exact (within rounding errors) results or tight outer approximations for lesser computation times.","PeriodicalId":117809,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Joint INDS'11 & ISTET'11","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131978141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
