The main objectives of this study were to determine the impact of four nitrogen fertilizer levels (without, 60, 80 and 100 kg fed -1 ), three bio-fertilizers treatments (without, Cerealine® and T.S®), four Molasses levels (without, 20, 40 and 60 kg.fed -1 ) and their interactions on growth and morphological characteristics of sugar beet plants. A split-split plot design with three replications was used, where the nitrogen fertilizer levels were allocated in the main plots and bio-fertilizer treatments were distributed in the sub-plots, as well as molasses treatments occupied the sub-sub plots. The results indicated that increasing nitrogen fertilizer rates significantly improved growth, and morphological characteristics as well as the biomass of sugar beet plants. The high rates of nitrogen (100 and 80 kg N fed -1 ), bio-fertilizers treatments (T.S®) and molasses (60 and 40 kg N ‎ fed -1 ‎) alone produced the highest morphological characteristics (leaf area index, root length, root diameter), growth character (root fresh weight, leaves fresh weight and total fresh weight) throughout the 1st and 2nd seasons, respectively, without significant differences. The interaction between nitrogen rates, molasses and bio-fertilizers (80 kg N fed -1 + 40 kg Molasses fed -1 + T.S) gave the highest values for most all studied characteristics. So, bio-fertilizer treatments proved a major role in crop production optimization and are expected to reduce the pollution of the agricultural environment.","PeriodicalId":11564,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Sugar Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74960907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the available data were collected from all official resources in the governorate. The data of 37789 drinking water samples from eleven districts plus East and west of Assiut governorate were summarized and compared with national and international drinking water standards of Arab Republic of Egypt A.R.E law no-458/2007 and WHO (World Health Organization) guidelines 2004. The initial high level of turbidity in 2009 and subsequent propensity to fall over time were mostly caused by the installation of new surface water pumping filtration stations as well as new Fe and Mn removal stations. The records for ammonia, Fe and Mn concentrations increased in the Northern part of Assiut (Dairut, ElQusiya and Manfalut), and in the Eastern part (Sahel Selim and ElBadari) of Assiut governorate. This trend may be due to infiltration of the excessive application of fertilizers and wastes derived from human and animal activities. Some parameters such as (turbidity, TDS, alkalinity, hardness, Fe, Mn and NH3 showed increases in groundwater sources than those in municipal water. Some parameters (Alkalinity, Cl-ion, NH 3 , Fe and Mn) were temporally at the lowest concentration in winter for the same source compared to summer. Furthermore, research showed that the Assiut Governorate's drinking water has excellent (54%), good (38.5%), and acceptable (7.5%) TDS levels. The overall hardness values were 38.5% hard and 61.5% very hard.","PeriodicalId":11564,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Sugar Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82817854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A field experiment was conducted at Shandaweel ‎Agricultural Research Station, Sohag Governorate, Egypt in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 ‎growing seasons to study the effects of the application of bio-fertilizers, i.e., control, vinasses, ‎yeast extract and a mixture of yeast extract and vinasses, on the growth, yield and quality of ‎four sugar beet varieties under water deficit conditions. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) ‎revealed significant effects of Drought stress, bio-fertilizers, varieties and their interactions on ‎chlorophyl contents, root length and diameter, Root yield (RY), Pol %, Recoverable sugar ‎‎(RS) %, Quality index (Qz) % and Recoverable sugar yield (RSY). Except for Pol% and ‎RS%, drought stress led to a significant reduction in all studied traits. The application of a ‎mixture of vinasses and yeast extract resulted in the highest values of all studied traits. The ‎highest values of most of the studied traits were produced from the monogerm variety ‎Poseidon when treated with a mixture of vinasses and yeast extract under either the optimum ‎irrigation and drought-stressed conditions in both growing seasons. Meanwhile, the lowest ‎values of most of the studied traits were produced from the Lilly variety under either the ‎optimum irrigation and drought-stressed conditions without the application of any bio-‎fertilizers (the control treatment) in both growing seasons. In this research, an experimental investigation of the effects of biofuel blends with diesel on pollutant emissions and combustion characteristics of a 350-kW industrial burner. Tested fuel blends were D100, D50B50 (50% diesel and 50% biodiesel by volume), D50B50E15 (50% diesel, 50% biodiesel, and 15% bioethanol by volume), and D50B50E25 (50% diesel, 50% biodiesel and 25% bioethanol by volume). The equivalence ratio was adjusted to five values by varying the air flow rate and maintaining the fuel flow rate constant at 0.14 l/min.CO, HC, soot, and NOx were measured. Also, flame temperatures were recorded at different positions. The result indicates that utilizing the fuel blends D50B50, D50B50E15, and D50B50E25 reduces CO by (about 19, 69, and 65%), HC by (about 18, 37 and 28%), and smoke opacity emissions by (about 8, 50, and 30%) respectively, compared to diesel fuel. On the other hand, NOx emission significantly rises at D50B50E15 and D50B50E25. In terms of combustion characteristics. Biofuel mixture D50B50, D50B50E15, and D50B50E25 increase exhaust gas temperatures by (about 2, 3 and 1%), and maximum gas flames (about 5, 9 and 4%) respectively, compared to diesel. The ethanol percentage of more than 15% in the blends lowers the maximum flame temperature within the furnace and reduces the length and area of the flame. It is evident from this research that biofuel for industrial burners can produce optimum combustion characteristics and lower emissions.","PeriodicalId":11564,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Sugar Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83559391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An experimental analysis was conducted in this study to determine the combustion and emissions performance of a 350 KW industrial burner fuelled with three different percentages of biogas: Biogas1 (CH 4 75%, CO 2 25%), Biogas2 (CH 4 70%, CO 2 30%), and Biogas3 (CH 4 60%, CO 2 40%) co-combusted with diesel or waste cooking oil biodiesel. Practical tests have demonstrated that in comparison to biogas and diesel fuel, the CO emission level of co-combustion biogases and biodiesel for B1000Biogas1, B100Biogas2, and B100Biogas3 was reduced by 60%, 50%, and 42%, while NOx emission increased by 52%, 47%, and 43%, along with the maximum flame temperature, by 9%, 10%, and 12%, respectively. The flame structures of the fuels in the swirl burner were investigated using flame pictures and contour temperature. The flame color for biodiesel and biogas was more brilliant and intense than for diesel and biogas. All the fuel test results demonstrate that inert CO 2 in biogas composition has a substantial influence on the chemical reactions occurring in the flame and pollutant emissions due to its dilution effect and slowing oxidation reaction. The higher inert CO 2 gas ratio in biogas caused a reduction in reaction intensity, which resulted in a weaker, unstable flame and also decreased flame temperature and NOx emissions. yield as well as high fermentation efficiency.","PeriodicalId":11564,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Sugar Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80936979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
