The average initial weight was 0.18 g and three of culture fiberglass tank shapes (rectangular, circular and square) were tested. The fish fed at 7% of body weight on artificial diet and the fish were stocked at 40 fries per m 3 . The trial continued for 100 days. The results shown that, the growth parameters were significantly affected by the tank shape and the rectangular tank was the best in growth rate, survival rate and feed conversion rate of rabbitfish fry. The circular tank was better in final weight and weight gain than square tank while, feed conversion ratio did not differ between the circular tank and square tank, so it can be suggested that, the rectangular tank are more suitability for growth of rabbitfish fry than the other shapes.","PeriodicalId":112503,"journal":{"name":"Journal of The Arabian Aquaculture Society ","volume":"155 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125887420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 12-week feeding trial was carried out using triplicate groups of Nile tilapia with 1.1±0.1 g initial weight. Dietary protein was replaced at 25, 50, and 75% protein basis by guar seed meal. Four experimental diets were formulated and marked as D1 (control), D2, D3, and D4. At the end of the restricted feeding trial at 6–4 % of biomass, there were significant differences (P < 0.05) on growth performance including weight gain, RGR, SGR, and survival rate among dietary treatments. The experimental diets did not affect the body composition in terms of protein, lipid and, ash contents. No diet related histopathological changes were noted in the posterior intestine and/or liver samples from any dietary group. Our findings suggest that the inclusion of guar seed meal in the diets for Nile tilapia fingerlings reared in hapas can be replaced up to 50% of dietary protein without adverse effects.","PeriodicalId":112503,"journal":{"name":"Journal of The Arabian Aquaculture Society ","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130479256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the work was to reduce production costs of marine hatcheries of gilthead Sea bream, Sparus aurata during the larval rearing period by developing an effective and applicable program for Early weaning from the very expensive live food. Two types of weaning diets were tested pelleted diets purchased from INVI Company and the prepared micro diet (MD). The protein content in the first diet consisted of 56% protein and the laboratory diet contained 51.4% protein. The experiments were carried out in twelve aquaria containing 35 liters of seawater with salinity of 38 ppm. Four hundred larvae of gilthead seabream were transferred to each aquarium, 13.3 larvae per liter, with (2.2mg) average initial weight and water flow of 245 ml/min/aquarium. The larvae were fed 6 times daily (from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm at the rate of one meal every two hours). The nutrition protocol was implemented according to the FAO Guide (Moretti et al ., 1999). Protein and energy requirements for maintenance and maximum growth were also determined. Fish were fed on a basal diet containing 35.5% crude protein and 285 kcal ME / 100g diet. Fingerlings (3.1 g ± 0.05) initial average BW were stocked at the rate of 10 fish per aquarium. Fish were fed 3 times daily; the amount was adjusted every Ten days according to the determined biomass per each aquarium. Weight gain and final body weight (FBW) of E. sea bass increased significantly with increasing dietary feeding rate from 2 up to 4 % with no differences among 3, 5 ,6 % and 7%. The best growth and specific growth rate were observed with 4% feeding rate and no significant differences were found with increasing FR beyond 4%. The body weight, body protein and energy of sea bass increased by increasing protein and energy intake in the diet from (6.75 to 14.2 mg protein / 1g BW daily and from 82.14 to 192.8 cal. gross energy / 1g BW daily). The increase in body weight gain (Y 1 ), body protein and energy (Y 2 ) with the increase of protein and energy intake could be expressed by the equations: Y 1 = - 302.31 + 259.41 X: Y 1 = -302.31 + 20.18 X; Y 2 = - 47.17 + 49.48 X; Y 2 = - 676.78 + 39.22X for protein and energy, respectively. From the regression analysis, maintenance requirements could be calculated at Y= zero. They were in average found to be 1.06 mg protein /g BW and 16.11 cal. gross energy/g BW daily for E. sea bass (3.1g IBW). The result indicates that the best feeding rate was found at 4% BW for sea bass 3.1g IBW. With maximum growth requirement of 14.2 mg protein/g BW and 192.8 cal. gross energy/g BW.","PeriodicalId":112503,"journal":{"name":"Journal of The Arabian Aquaculture Society ","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122226266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
