In this retrospective study, we evaluated the most commonly used treatments and their efficacy in a large population of patients with AKN. We performed a cross-sectional analysis of patient medical records from the Los Angeles County hospital system in California over a period of 6 years. A total of 101 patients were included based on diagnosis of AKN by a dermatologist and documented treatment outcomes. Clindamycin and clobetasol were the most commonly prescribed topical treatments, while doxycycline was the most commonly prescribed systemic medication; intralesional (IL) triamcinolone also was commonly used. Most patients responded positively to these treatment regimens, but very few had full resolution with these treatments, reflecting a need for further study and new therapeutic modalities for AKN.</p>","PeriodicalId":11195,"journal":{"name":"Cutis","volume":"117 2","pages":"60-64"},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2026-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147626995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the ADA approaches its 150th anniversary, its enduring strength lies not only in its scientific programming but also in its culture of mentorship, collegiality, and intergenerational connection. Selective membership fosters meaningful professional relationships and sustained engagement across academic, private practice, and organizational leadership domains. In an era marked by increasing administrative burden and physician burnout, intentional professional community may serve as a protective factor that promotes resilience, purpose, and career longevity. For residents and early-career dermatologists, the ADA offers a model of how structured relationships, mentorship, and service within organized medicine can shape both professional development and personal fulfillment.</p>","PeriodicalId":11195,"journal":{"name":"Cutis","volume":"117 2","pages":"E17-E18"},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2026-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147626667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Comprehensive PT refers to the completion of PT for all potentially relevant and testable allergens for a given patient. It is necessary for most patients with contact allergy and can illustrate allergen trends and identify allergens that otherwise would be missed using a limited screening panel. Early identification of relevant allergens leads to clinical improvement, improved quality-of-life, and reduced health care utilization. This article illustrates the clinical and public health value of comprehensive PT and the vital role of allergen access in the comprehensive patch test process.</p>","PeriodicalId":11195,"journal":{"name":"Cutis","volume":"117 2","pages":"46-48"},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2026-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147627425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
