A maximum power point tracking (MPTT) algorithm can be implemented to search the maximum power point on the voltage-current characteristic of the PV panel. Power electronic converters are used to transfer this maximum power from the panel to the load with the maximum efficiency as much as possible. The DC-DC boost converter can be controlled by the output of the MPPT algorithm that provides the reference for the input voltage, inductance current or duty cycle of the boost converter. The efficiency of the converter can be increased by using wide-bandgap devices. The purpose of this research is to compare the losses of the cascode GaN high electron mobility (HEMT) and enhancement GaN used in the DC-DC boost converter fed from the PV simulator. In this paper, the results of PSPICE model are compared to the results of experimental work for the cascode GaN high electron mobility (HEMT). The simulations are performed by MATLAB and SPICE co-simulation.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131839463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A fault can be due to the loss of one of the leg transistors in the voltage source inverter, or be internal to the machine, affecting one of the phase windings. Multiphase machines can continue to operate even in the case where more than one phase is open-circuited, while for a three-phase machine, post-fault operation is possible only if one phase is opened and the star point of the machine is connected to the dc mid-point of the inverter.In this papers the modeling and control of a five-phase induction machine with the field oriented control technique are presented; then, an algorithm for the post fault operation when one stator phase is open-circuited has been proposed and the results of the simulations, carried out with different load torques and reference speeds, have been reported and discussed.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132798056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To analyse with the required precision, the losses of magnetic component, both magnetic core and electric winding losses, usually Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis is carried out. The eddy currents effects are divided primordially in skin and proximity effects. The attention is focused on single wire alone case to better understanding the skin effect influence, proposing an improved version of the equation for determining the series resistance of a single wire. It also introduces a mathematical approximation to calculate the conductor resistance for any operation frequency. All the theoretical assumptions and conclusions are supported by numerical simulations using Finite Element Method analysis.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129149420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research provides an energy management optimization algorithm for the power distribution system of fuel cell hybrid vehicles oriented to increase its driving range. The system consists of a fuel cell as the main energy source, a battery directly connected to the power bus as the secondary energy source, and a power converter between the fuel cell and the power bus. The power to move hybrid the vehicle is provided by both energy sources, battery, and fuel cell. The proposed optimization algorithm is based on the minimizing of the energy losses in the system and is validated with simulations made in PSIM® and SIMULINK®, by using oversized, undersized, and correct sized batteries. The sizing obtained from the use of the proposed optimization strategy is compared with the results of other proposals, achieving improvements in the total mass, volume, and cost of the system. Finally, the system configuration that minimizes the sizing and the one that minimizes the energy losses are compared.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134087449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the development of control systems to take advantage of the available outputs is needed. Hence, this paper focuses on the development of a control system to operate a three-phase three-level T-Type qZSI under fault tolerant conditions. The controller is based on a sliding mode current controller associated to a vectorial modulator selecting the available outputs. The proposed strategy for the controller and modulator is presented taking into consideration the normal and fault-tolerant requirements. The strategy also considers the balance of the capacitors under fault tolerant condition. The converter operating in both modes is tested through several simulation studies.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132404318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
