The model used to calculate the energy along the path is typically based on the mechanical model of the vehicle. However, to be more accurate, one should also consider the motor losses. In this paper, we propose an integrated motor optimization and route planning for EV based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and the Bellman-Ford (BF) routing algorithm. The PSO is used to calculate optimized magnetic flux settings for an induction motor for various operating points. The calculated settings maintain the high efficiency of the motor throughout the trip, but are also used to accurately calculate the motor losses prior to planning the route. The BF algorithm is used to calculate optimized routes. A Pareto front of optimized routes that minimized energy and distance is produced and allows the user to select the preferred route. Both the PSO and the BF are implemented in CUDA on an embedded NVIDIA Jetson TX2 graphics processing unit (GPU) for maximum performance. The system is tested on road maps with up to 4.6 million edges and provides a speedup of 19.3x for the PSO and 10.1x for the BF.","PeriodicalId":109940,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122074586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These devices generally possess limited processing capacity and battery power. Hence, heavy tasks that require a lot of computation and are energy consuming must be offloaded to a MEC server. Actually, it must consider the wireless network state, the number of SMDs requesting the computation offloading, and the available radio resources. In this paper, we consider a multi-mobile users MEC system, where multiple SMDs demand computation offloading to a MEC server, and we take into account the presence of particular subscribers having priority for computation offloading services. The purpose of this paper is to jointly optimize task offloading decisions and the allocation of critical radio resources while maintaining the priority of certain mobile device users and minimizing overall power consumption. Therefore, we have formulated a bi-objective optimization problem which is NP-Hard. Accordingly, with the use of the weighted aggregation approach, we propose and evaluate a heuristic that, in addition to minimizing the overall energy, minimizes the number of penalized SMDs in case where the radio resources are critical. The obtained results in terms of energy and satisfaction of the SMDs are very encouraging.","PeriodicalId":109940,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121492882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In developing countries and particularly in Africa, logistics cost remains high and affect negatively the economic growth. Transport cost for most African landlocked countries is three to four times higher than in most developed countries and vary from 15 to 20 percent of imports costs (1). Despite certain weaknesses, Africa is emerging as new partner in globalization. International logistics operators are optimistic in Africa's development potential and its participation in the Global supply chain. This article will deepen the reflection on the development of the transport and logistics in Africa, by identifying the key factors leading to optimize the logistics network in order to support the development in Africa.","PeriodicalId":109940,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"394 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131845009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal is not only achieving a smart city but to realize a smart sustainable city, to achieve the balance of the environment alongside the balance of the city's technology evolution. The Internet of Things (IoT) technology is the most popular technology used in smart cities due to its efficiency in wide varieties of applications. Although the IoT is yet to fully emerge, the energy demand has proven to be significantly increased and will keep on increasing over the upcoming years, that's why it's crucial to investigate the Green IoT. One of the most challenging issues in cities is pollution especially air pollution. Air pollution will become a catastrophe with technological advancement if cities turned a blind eye to it. It has a direct effect on people’s health as well as the ecosystem. From this point, this paper suggests a green IoT based efficient system that detects and monitor the outdoor air pollution level; the system is powered by renewable energy. The system monitors the pollution level; if the pollution level exceeds the acceptable pollution level, it takes a decision to notify the authorities who can use this data in planning preventive actions and take measures to stop the continuous harmful air pollution effects and prevent the evolution of this phenomenon.","PeriodicalId":109940,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130500532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The temperature inside livestock building is the most influential factor on the chickens. Commonly, it has been mutually interacted with others climatic parameters such as humidity, NH3 and CO2. This paper proposes a new ways to control the temperature inside poultry house using an optimized proportional-integrator-derivative (PID) controller. The primary technique focuses on the set of the output matrix via the adaptation of the static output feedback (SOF) control for the multi-inputs multi-output (MIMO) system. The generated single model of the poultry house process is regulated with the PID controller. Additionally, the Ant Colony Algorithm is employed to derive the optimal parameters (Kp, Ki, Kd) on testing the four multi-objective indices: the criterion of Integrated Squared Error (ISE), Integrated Absolute Error (IAE), Integrated Time Absolute Error (ITAE) and Integrated Time Squared Error (ITSE). The simulation results in case of hot conditions shows and demonstrates the good performance of the proposed technique in tracking the desired set point with the poultry house process.","PeriodicalId":109940,"journal":{"name":"2019 5th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122234589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
