The test program was developed using an experiment design with two factors: a water-binder ratio and a fly-ash / cement ratio. Carbonation depth measurements were carried out according to FprCEN/TS 12390-12 (CO2 concentration = 4%, T = 20°C, RH = 55%). Associated tests were also carried out, including compressive strength, porosity, depth of absorption, water penetration depth, and capillary suction. Analysis of the test results allowed us to determine the influence of binder composition on concrete carbonization depth under standard test conditions. The results show that the carbonation depth increases along with the increase in the W/B ratio and as a result of the increase in the fly ash content in the binder. A mathematical model was developed to describe the carbonation process over time, which can predict the depth and rate of concrete carbonation. Furthermore, it was found that there is no close relationship between other properties tested (e.g. strength) and the depth of the carbonated concrete.","PeriodicalId":109008,"journal":{"name":"Structure and Environment","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124443013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this regard, regular air quality monitoring aims to keep pollution levels within prescribed limits and to identify the factors (winds, traffic, seasons, ambient temperature, air humidity, and so on) that influence pollution levels. To carry out a preliminary analysis of the air quality in Kielce, a specialist detector of PM2.5 and PM10 particles Steinberg 10030389 SBS-PM2.5 was used. Besides, the analysis referred to pollutants such as SO2; NO2; C6H6, which were provided from the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection. Controlling the above mentioned pollutants for monthly and hourly averages of the selected time period in 2020 and 2021, taking into account the epidemiological situation (lockdown), graphs with the results were prepared. Then the analysis was carried out, with the preliminary assumption that the air quality is worse when the population functions normally than when it remains indoors, and that air quality is usually better at night than during the day.","PeriodicalId":109008,"journal":{"name":"Structure and Environment","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132279974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the paper is to assess the possibility of utilization of used salt hydrates from photovoltaic installations according to current Polish legal requirements concerning the environment. The properties of the composition components of hydrated salts were discussed in terms of their safety for the environment before and after the period of exploitation in photovoltaic panels. A method of dealing with used salt hydrates was proposed and a waste code was assigned. It has been established that spent salt hydrates will be allowed to be collected in no-outflow tanks and accepted at liquid waste collection points, which operate at water supply and sewerage companies, and the load of permissible pollutants should not exceed the value for industrial sewage.","PeriodicalId":109008,"journal":{"name":"Structure and Environment","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124608745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interaction between the joined layers was determined by applying a cohesion contact model. The parameters of the model were identified using the results obtained in the course of the actual Leutner tests. The heterogeneity of the structure was mapped based on a digital image of a tomographic cross-section. The separation of the materials included in the individual layers was performed with the use of a script in the MatLab program. Thanks to this, the batch file for the Abaqus program was prepared thoroughly. As a result, it was possible to map as closely as possible the profile of the deformation caused by the loss of the interlayer adhesion. Based on the data analysis, it was found that in the layer of the base course constructed from cold-applied recycled materials, the loss of interlayer adhesion is related to the state of non-linear mastic deformation. As a consequence, it was found that large deformations in the mastic structure would cause losses of aggregate grains in the recycled layer. In addition, a large horizontal displacement within the layer of the base course made of recycled material is one of the likely causes of edge fractures in the road structure.","PeriodicalId":109008,"journal":{"name":"Structure and Environment","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129144261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research methodology was adopted to find new facts influencing the choice of place and the architectural form of the office. The study covered the period from the beginning of the 1950s to the end of the 1970s. An episode of socialist realism was shown, influencing its functionally and spatially planned location and the direction of modernism in architecture. Its similarity with the works of Le Corbusier was pointed out as a probable inspiration. As a result, a building was constructed that positively entered the postwar urban planning of the city. On the other hand, as an element of an unrealized modernist urban vision, it is a warning against the desire to irreversibly destroy the historic space of downtown Kielce.","PeriodicalId":109008,"journal":{"name":"Structure and Environment","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116830815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of non-destructive testing methods is the only option in some cases. However, it is very important to pay attention to their proper use or even preparation for research. The pull-off method requires just such diligence to be able to properly interpret the obtained results. The article compares the results of the research in which the pull-off method was used in various configurations. The obtained measurement results were compared with each other and analyzed in terms of their usefulness.","PeriodicalId":109008,"journal":{"name":"Structure and Environment","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131319929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The coloured waste glass in two different forms was used: the glass cullet with a particle size of 0.125-4.00 mm as a fine aggregate and the glass powder with a particle size below 0.125 mm as cement replacement. Both types of glass were obtained by crushing and milling brown glass bottles. The tests were carried out on mortars in which sand was entirely replaced by glass cullet or 20% of cement was replaced by glass powder. The effect of glass cullet and glass powder on the properties of cement mortar, such as setting time, consistency, flexural and compressive strength was determined. Moreover, the role of glass cullet as a potential source of expansion resulted from the alkali-silica reaction was investigated. The microstructure of hydrated composites was also examined with a scanning electron microscope.","PeriodicalId":109008,"journal":{"name":"Structure and Environment","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130146145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
