Hence, management of wastewater\u0000is of great concern. The wastewater from different industries can be treated by various conventional\u0000treatment methods but these conventional treatment technologies seem to be ineffective\u0000for the complete removal of pollutants especially refractory organic compounds that\u0000are not readily biodegradable in nature. Detergents, detergent additives, sequestering agents\u0000like EDTA, Pesticides, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, etc. are some of the recalcitrant\u0000organic compounds found in the wastewater. One of the treatment technologies for the removal\u0000of recalcitrant organic compounds is Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP). The production\u0000of hydroxyl free radical is the main mechanism for the AOP. AOP is a promising\u0000technology for the treatment of refractory organic compounds due to its low oxidation selectivity\u0000and high reactivity of the radical. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), Ozonation, Ultra-violet\u0000(UV) radiation, H2O2/UV process and Fenton’s reaction are extensively used for the removal\u0000of refractory organic compounds thus reducing Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total\u0000Organic Carbon (TOC), phenolic compounds, dyes etc. to great extent. From the studies, we\u0000found that Fenton’s reagents appear to be most economically practical AOP systems for almost\u0000all industries with respect to high pollutant removal efficiency and it is also economical.\u0000From the energy point of view, the ozone based process proves to be more efficient but\u0000it is costlier than the Fenton’s process.\u0000

For each plot, 25 samples were collected\u0000to make one composite sample per plot for each depth.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000 The results showed that tree species contributed to the changes of soil chemistry\u0000along the depths of the soil layers. The laboratory analyses showed that there was a high\u0000significant influence of tree species on soil pH and Aluminum ions. However, it was observed\u0000that there was no significant influence of Podocarpus falcatus and Markhamia lutea\u0000species on the available phosphorus or on the total exchangeable acidity. On the other hand,\u0000analyzing soil samples under Markhamia lutea showed an increase in the total nitrogen and a\u0000decrease in the pH and available phosphorus.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000 Trees affect the chemical properties of soils.
