From past to present, advertisements have been organized for ages. The perceptions and ads have changed in the axis of technological developments. By the time advertising throughout the traditional media, the messages flow accordingly one-way communication model. However, today's new media opportunities, such as social media, originate a model based on bidirectional communication and more interaction. The combination of the changing perception of people in daily life practice, consumption habits, and lifestyles with technology led to the formation of a reasonably new and diverse audience, defined as generation Z. Generation Z is a generation that grew up in a period when technological developments were more diversified than the previous two generations (X, Y) and consequently had a more technological aptitude. However, the X generation, who lived in the analog era, and the Y generation, who experienced both analog and digital periods, hitherto have been attempting to adapt to the new era, non-isolated from technological developments. Therefore, three generations have been analyzed in this context by conducting qualitative research, advertising and intergenerational perception have been comprehended in depth. Those generations demand adaption to this new-tech period. Obtaining findings were subjected to content analysis, and three themes have been achieved: Concerns of Current Circumstances, The Inconvenience of Ads, and Advertising and Public Relations: Digitalization of the Profession.","PeriodicalId":105102,"journal":{"name":"İletişim Kuram ve Araştırma Dergisi","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131042546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of these influences is the increase of freelance work in advertising. This study aims to examine the freelance model in advertising and related marketing communications by focusing on procedures, creativity, productivity, labor, and entrepreneurship and to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the model. We adopted the qualitative approach for the research and conducted semi-structured in-depth interviews with ten (four females and six males) freelancers, aged 22 to 36. The sample represents the creative, data-driven, and project managing aspects of advertising practices. The research reveals the prevalence of freelance work in terms of both business size and sectoral diversity. Some of the main findings highlight the importance of digital technologies, online labor platforms, heterarchical organization, and ephemerality of the work. Social isolation and intense competition on digital platforms stand out among the primary problems of freelance work. In terms of labor economics, freelancers depict themselves in a journey from the labor side to entrepreneurship.","PeriodicalId":105102,"journal":{"name":"İletişim Kuram ve Araştırma Dergisi","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133499357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Netflix, as a creation of the digitalization McDonald,&Smith-Rowsey (2016) with the term \"the Netflix effect,” introduces a pioneering role of the platform in the streaming culture of recommendation, immediate delivery, and custom-personalized production. The algorithms and the Netflix mechanisms are designed to capitalize on the viewer's activities and to maximize the time spent on the platform; they are highly effective. With this platform, a new well-known brand was born, and with those new hedonistic consumers, the “Netflix and Chill” motto legalizes and emphasizes the brand by creating a new sort of cultural taste in a society where the emotional side of consumption is becoming more and more prominent. In this context, this paper aims to observe Turkish students' hedonistic behavior in Netflix binge-watching. A reception study will be done using focus groups; four different focus groups will be monitored. Each of these groups consisted of five Netflix viewers belonging to generation Z. The study will show the degree of viewers' hedonism and on the self-perception about it.","PeriodicalId":105102,"journal":{"name":"İletişim Kuram ve Araştırma Dergisi","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124057629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The expertise of columnists in a field with a wide range of content is decisive for the nature of the text. However, nowadays it seems that the authors write about everything and focus on different topics within a single text. It is also a problem that columnists always present narratives through the same actors. In this study, the diversity of the topics that the columnists focus on, the actors who stand out in the column articles and the number of topics in the text were examined. The research aimed at identifying the current problems in column writing is important because it shows the status of columnists in the most widely read newspapers in Turkey. A sample of columnists from the most sold newspapers was selected in February. Accordingly, 89 texts written by authors Abdulkadir Selvi (Hürriyet), Emin Çölaşan (Sözcü), Hilal Kaplan (Sabah), Rauf Tamer (Posta), Tunca Bengin (Milliyet) between 01.02.2022 and 28.02.2022 were analyzed. In the study where the content analysis method was used, the texts related to politics and foreign policy were highlighted in the columns. It has been seen that the prominent political actors are Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Ekrem İmamoğlu. As a result of the studies conducted on in-text diversity, it was found that a single topic was discussed in 67 columns, and two different topics were examined in 18 texts. Based on what has been learned, it is very possible that deep analyzes will be compiled in the relevant information of the texts, although the books mainly focus on the subject of politics, the same political actors, and a single planning is included in the articles.","PeriodicalId":105102,"journal":{"name":"İletişim Kuram ve Araştırma Dergisi","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133399068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the biggest factors preventing the achievement of the targets set in the vaccination campaigns during the Covid 19 pandemic process is the organized structuring of the vaccine opponents, especially in social media. In this direction, it is aimed to determine which conspiracy theories the anti-vaccine people try to support their approaches in the messages they use on social media platforms and share with other online users. The 20th century, in which memory studies are given importance, interdisciplinary researches are carried out, and human is the main element based on the results of these researches, is a period in which historiography was reshaped. Handling memory as a kind of remembering mechanism, in other words, carrying the signs of the transition from oral culture to written culture, making the abstract visible by turning into concrete ensures that the memory is kept alive even more. While the reality behind the image expresses the subjectivity of individual memory inferences, it also exhibits the objective units of collective memory. The history of humanity almost opens its doors to future times and generations. In memory, details, myths, tales, and epics bearing the traces of oral culture are followed by places, manuscripts, and works of art transitioning to written culture. Technological opportunities have brought a memory to a digital dimension, and archives using image language have been created. Human expressions that stand out from frames were embodied on the white screen. The power and popularity of the art of cinema to influence large audiences in a short time have led to its use as a frequently preferred tool in memory formations. Timelessness in the expression language of cinema can take the audience on a journey through memory layers. Television using the power of cinema and today’s digital broadcasting platforms also produces original productions by referring to the memory of different societal perspectives. “Kulüp” series, which is among the original productions of Netflix, the digital broadcasting platform with the highest share of views in the world and Turkey, conveys the defining features of the period from the perspective of Sephardic Jews, shedding light on 1950s Turkey and specifically Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district, where predominantly non-Muslims lived. The 10 episodes of the Kulüp series that constitute the study’s sample will be analyzed according to the typical case sampling method, which is one of the purposive sampling methods used in qualitative research. The “time,” “space,\" “minorities,” and “belief” factors determined for typical sampling will enable us to reveal the social reflections of memory formation on the subject of the study.","PeriodicalId":105102,"journal":{"name":"İletişim Kuram ve Araştırma Dergisi","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128817701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
