However, there was no study on the prevalence and associated factors of symptomatic dry eye disease among diabetic patients in Ethiopia or in the study area. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and associated factors of symptomatic dry eye disease among adult diabetic patients in Adare General Hospital, Hawassa City, Southern Ethiopia, in 2023. Methods: A hospital-based cross-sectional study design was conducted on 493 adult diabetic patients who were selected using systematic random sampling, from April 23 to June 8, 2023. Data were collected through a face-to-face interview using an ocular surface disease index questionnaire. Binary logistic regression was performed to identify factors potentially associated with symptomatic dry eye disease. Variable with a P value of < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: A total of 488 subjects participated in this study with a response rate of 99%. The prevalence of symptomatic dry eye disease was 34.8% (95% CI = 30.6– 39.1). College and university educational status (AOR = 5.88, 95% CI = 2.25– 15.38), government employed (AOR = 2.22, 95% CI = 1.05– 4.68), use of visual display unit > 5 hours (AOR = 4.41, 95% CI = 1.51– 12.87), duration of diabetes ≥ 11 years (AOR = 3.57, 95% CI = 1.28– 9.90), poor glycemic control (AOR = 2.13, 95% CI = 1.21– 3.75), allergic conjunctivitis (AOR = 1.99, 95% CI = 1.12– 3.54), and debris in the tear film (AOR = 3.63, 95% CI = 1.53– 8.61) were positively associated with symptomatic dry eye disease. Conclusion: The study revealed a high prevalence of symptomatic dry eye disease. Higher educational status, government employed, use of visual display unit, longer duration of diabetes, poor glycemic control, allergic conjunctivitis, and tear film debris were significantly associated with symptomatic dry eye disease. Breaks in screen use, good glycemic control, and treatment of ocular morbidities such as allergic conjunctivitis and debris in the tear film were recommended for all diabetic patients. This study aims to assess the comparability of three alternative devices for measuring IOP: Noncontact tonometer, Icare rebound tonometer, and Tono-Pen. Patients and Methods: A cross-sectional study included 172 adult participants (87 males and 85 females) who underwent IOP and central corneal thickness (CCT) assessments. IOP was measured using Noncontact (Canon TX-20), Icare (Icare TA01i), and Tono-Pen (Tonopen XL). CCT was measured with the built-in pachymetry of the Noncontact tonometer. Correlation coefficients and Bland-Altman analyses were conducted to assess the relationships and agreements between these tonometers. Participants were grouped based on IOP and CCT levels. The mean of the standard deviation of the three tonometer results was calculated to evaluate measurement result variability. One-way analysis of variance was conducted for comparing between the groups. Results: IOP measurements among the three devices were not significantly different, indicating their comparability. Correlation analysis revealed strong correlations between the tonometers. Bland-Altman analysis showed good agreement, with the Icare rebound tonometer and Tono-Pen exhibiting narrower limits of agreement. Furthermore, IOP levels influenced measurement result variability, with higher IOP levels associated with greater variance. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the alternative devices examined can provide reliable IOP measurements. It highlights the potential of these alternative devices for IOP measurement. These findings have implications for clinical practice, offering practitioners additional tools for accurate IOP assessment. Methods: This retrospective study included patients with visually significant cataracts who underwent implantation of the CT LUCIA 621P IOL. Refraction, corrected (CDVA) and uncorrected (UDVA) visual acuity of the last available visit were used in the analysis. Intraoperative and postoperative AEs of the cohort were reviewed. Results: A total of 191 eyes of 133 patients with the mean age of 70.2± 11.2 years were included in this study. The mean follow-up time of the last available visit was 1.7± 1.3 months. The mean postoperative monocular UDVA was 0.09± 0.16 logMAR (≈20/25), and 74.9% (143/191) eyes achieved ≥ 20/25 UDVA. The percentage of eyes with manifest spherical equivalent (MSE) within ± 0.50D and ± 1.00D of emmetropia was 84.8% (162/191) and 98.4% (188/191), respectively. Linear regression of attempted vs achieved MSE showed a tight relationship, with the coefficient of determination close to 1 (R 2 =0.99), indicating a very predictable refractive correction. The reported AEs were those typically expected after cataract surgery. There were no AEs related to intraoperative manipulation with the IOL/injector or to postoperative stability of the IOL in the capsular bag. No eye lost ≥ 2 lines of CDVA. Conclusion: The implantation of CT LUCIA 621P resulted in good refractive predictability and visual outcomes. No IOL-related adverse events were reported. The choroid is secondarily involved. Typical localization is in the midperipheral region, outside the vascular arcades. SCC is mostly located in the superotemporal quadrant. Often times, the patients are referred with the diagnosis of an amelanotic tumor. SCC may be dystrophic or metastatic. Metastatic SCC lesions are associated with conditions altering calcium and phosphate metabolism including primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D intoxication, renal failure, hyperphosphatemia, and destructive bony lesions. SCC lesions have a characteristic appearance and appear as distinct, ill-defined, yellow-white, elevated scleral/choroidal masses funduscopically.
