The emergence of such communicating objects has led practitioners to envision networking a large number of sensors for event monitoring, data collection and filtering. Due to the use of wireless technologies, a secure communication is strongly needed to protect valuable information. Secure group communication is one of the most significant requirements for IoT applications. This employs a group rekeying mechanism for a secure and efficient delivery of data. In this paper, we present a new efficient and scalable rekeying protocol for wireless communicating things. This protocol uses $O(łog_2 sqrt[3]n )$ memory complexity, improving significantly the literature works, where n is the network size. Simulation results show that our protocol has better performances than existing works in several criteria.","PeriodicalId":103892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 16th ACM Symposium on QoS and Security for Wireless and Mobile Networks","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128319904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the significant issues for anomaly detection techniques is the availability of labeled data for training/validation of models. In this paper, we proposed a hyper approach based on Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) autoencoder and One-class Support Vector Machine (OC-SVM) to detect anomalies based attacks in an unbalanced dataset, by training the models using only examples of normal classes. The LSTM-autoencoder is trained to learn the normal traffic pattern and to learn the compressed representation of the input data (i.e. latent features) and then feed it to an OC-SVM approach. The hybrid model overcomes the shortcomings of the separate OC-SVM, in which its low capability to operate with massive and high-dimensional datasets. Additionally, we perform our experiments using the most recent dataset (InSDN) of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) for SDN environments. The experimental results show that the proposed model provides higher detection rate and reduces the processing time significantly. Hence, our method provides great confidence in securing SDN networks from malicious traffic.","PeriodicalId":103892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 16th ACM Symposium on QoS and Security for Wireless and Mobile Networks","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122918756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the proximity, such Cloud can better fulfill service and latency requirements for QoS sensitive applications. However, in order to function properly, such mechanics requires a collaborative approach that not all the devices might follow: some can contribute much less than others and deviate from the Service Level Agreement. This creates a free-riding problem in MCC and a corresponding QoS issue. An approach towards this problem consists of providing incentives to nodes so that they act as inspectors and occasionally audit the recent behavior of the nodes with which they interact. This double role of potential inspectee and inspectors can be modeled within Game Theory (GT) to predict the behavior of the agents. In this work, we show that an appropriate model for this game is a symmetric four-strategies social dilemma. The solution (a.k.a. equilibrium) of the game provides a unique way to set the incentives so as to drive the system toward the desired behavior. However, even the hybrid inspector-inspectee agent approach is in principle open to a potential flaw: the possibility of inspector-inspectee collusion. The main contribution of this work is that the collusion behavior is not an equilibrium of the game, thus hybrid agent rational players should never collude.","PeriodicalId":103892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 16th ACM Symposium on QoS and Security for Wireless and Mobile Networks","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126164572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used by emergency services, such as police officers or firefighters, can rapidly provide situational awareness over a large area, reducing the time and number of researchers required to locate and rescue people, thus reducing the costs and risks of search and rescue missions. This work considers the problem of completely overfly an area just affected by an earthquake with the objective of opportunely direct rescue teams. It provides a complete model that tries to keep into account all the main real-life issues in two different realistic scenarios.","PeriodicalId":103892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 16th ACM Symposium on QoS and Security for Wireless and Mobile Networks","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128040996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the sensed data is considered to contain useful and valuable information, yet it might include various inconsistencies such as data redundancies, anomalies, and missing values. In this work, we focus on managing sensor data redundancies in connected environments. Existing works often suffer from (i) disregarding either network core or edge device redundancies; (ii) disregarding the limited capabilities of edge devices; and (iii) disregarding sensors mobility and the dynamicity of the network. To address these limitations, we propose a framework for data redundancy management at the device level, denoted DRMF. We describe its modules, and clustering-based algorithms. Moreover, our proposal detects temporal, and spatial-temporal redundancies in order to consider both static and mobile devices/sensors. Finally, we present our experimental protocol and share preliminary results.","PeriodicalId":103892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 16th ACM Symposium on QoS and Security for Wireless and Mobile Networks","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123503460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given large data sizes from video, extensive amounts of battery power are required for downloading, processing, and playing each video segment. However, video quality may suffer drastically in an effort to pursue energy efficiency. In balancing these two objectives, our research incorporates advanced energy models, processor clock rates, buffer management, and network quality aware downloading. Furthermore, multi-user systems present unique challenges in optimization given competition for network resources. Our algorithm accounts for these fluctuations and concurrent demands across both many users and many cells. Present application in LTE networks and foundations for future implementation in 5G systems are provided.","PeriodicalId":103892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 16th ACM Symposium on QoS and Security for Wireless and Mobile Networks","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125070234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such advancements, however, have enabled the exponential growth in media file sizes, which leads to shortage of storage on small-scale edge devices. While online clouds have been the default solution, they raise privacy concerns, are not fully automated, and do not adapt to different networking environments. Distributed storage systems rely on distributed file partitioning to combat concerns over privacy, and are adaptable to different networking environments. Nevertheless, such systems lack optimization via compression due to energy concerns on edge devices. In this work, we propose Smart Media Compression (SMC), a system that can be integrated with various distributed edge cloud (DEC)storage systems. SMC utilizes both a deterministic as well as a machine learning approach to classify the relevance of files to the user. Once classification is performed, SMC intelligently selects which files to compress, which files to preserve as is, and which files to offload to the distributed edge storage system. SMC dynamically adapts its parameters in order to reduce the amount of needless compression, thus minimizing energy consumption. It accomplishes this while also providing faster access to user files compared to standalone DEC systems. Our results show an improvement in average file access delay by up to 90%, while only costing an additional 14% in energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":103892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 16th ACM Symposium on QoS and Security for Wireless and Mobile Networks","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126049547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a mixed integer linear programming model for representing the optimal design problem, which can be traced back to a multi-architecture variant of the well-known Connected Facility Location problem. In order to protect design solutions against reduction in capacity that may occur in FSO connections due to adverse weather conditions, we adopt a robust cutting plane procedure.
