The scattering matrix can be transformed to determine the polarizability angle, relative phase angle, and target magnitude. These quantities are invariant to rotations about the sensor-to-target axis. Measurements were made on dry sand without a target, sand with a buried polystyrene cylinder, and sand with a buried styrofoam cylinder. As frequency was swept the relative phase changed more rapidly when either cylinder was present compared to the sand alone. The relative phase may be a useful feature for detecting plastic objects and voids in sand.","PeriodicalId":102625,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference (WDD)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128572737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estimation method is based on the estimate of the Doppler shift/centroid induced by the moving target without ambiguity using the two SAR images patch by patch which are generated by the transmitted pulses carried by the two frequencies. Furthermore, a method based on smear theory is used to extracted the moving target which have large azimuth but small radial velocity components, and by excluding the background the minimum detectable velocity becomes more small and the estimate becomes more accurate.","PeriodicalId":102625,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference (WDD)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127518072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our approach combines two techniques aimed at increasing tracking performance. It uses track-before-detect (TBD) that employs unthresholded delay-Doppler measurements and is implemented using particle filtering. Integrated into the TBD is an adaptive waveform configuration algorithm that selects the transmit waveform parameters at each time step by minimizing the predicted mean-squared estimation error of the target's state. Using simulations to track a low SNR target, we demonstrate the increased performance of waveform-agile sensing (WAS)-TBD over TBD with fixed transmit waveforms.","PeriodicalId":102625,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference (WDD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129030595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The TQWT, which depends on the two main parameters of the Q-factor and asymptotic redundancy, matches the oscillatory behaviour of the signal of interest when tuned. The approach, which differs from the Fourier and Wavelet transforms, decomposes a signal into a “high-Q-factor” and “low-Q-factor” component, and can be used to distinguish two radar range profiles of different oscillatory nature. The results of the paper show that the TQWT can provide sparse representation for some signals and that morphological component analysis (MCA) can be used to differentiate two radar signals based on their TQWT parameters.","PeriodicalId":102625,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference (WDD)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127093181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Covariance matrix based method has been widely used in spectrum sensing. As is well-known that the covariance matrix of white noise is proportional to the identity matrix which is sparse. On the other hand, the covariance matrix of signal is usually low-rank. Robust principal component analysis (PCA) has been proposed recently to recover the low-rank matrix which is corrupted by a sparse matrix with arbitrarily large magnitude non-zero entries. In this paper, robust PCA for spectrum sensing is proposed based on the sample covariance matrix. The received signal will be divided into two segments. Robust PCA will be applied to extract the low-rank matrices from the sample covariance matrices of both segments. The primary user's signal is detected if the discrepancy between the recovered low-rank matrices is smaller than a predefined threshold. The simulations are done both on the simulated and captured DTV signal. Also, the simulations that robust PCA is taken as a de-noising process for sample covariance matrix are also implemented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":102625,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference (WDD)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125174923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a popular waveform used widely in wireless communication networks today. Understanding the structure and potential of these networks becomes critical in future passive radar systems design and concept development. An experimental OFDM radar is developed and used to support ground radar imaging research using these commercial OFDM waveforms. This paper presents one-dimensional range profile results using the experimental radar setup. A brief discussion on OFDM range compression is also presented.","PeriodicalId":102625,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference (WDD)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128051444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
