We have developed the world's first chipset for portable DMB receivers. We present a two-chip solution for the portable DMB receiver. One is a multimedia processor decoding the newest video standard, H.264, and the other is a channel processor. We describe the low-power high performance design and specification of this chipset.","PeriodicalId":101716,"journal":{"name":"2005 Digest of Technical Papers. This machine helps correct the intonation by showing the pitch contour and assesses the pronunciation accuracy by computing the log-posterior probability of the segmented phonemes. Not only the phoneme replacement errors but also deletion and insertion mistakes are checked. It is also possible to find out the Korean phoneme replacement errors because this algorithm employs both English and Korean phoneme sets. This handheld device is implemented using an ARM7 CPU and equips a graphic LCD.","PeriodicalId":101716,"journal":{"name":"2005 Digest of Technical Papers. Estimated noise power and sum of absolute difference (SAD) employed in motion estimation are used to determine temporal filter coefficients. A noise measurement scheme using the correlation between the noisy input and the noise-free image is applied for accurate estimation of noise power. Experimental results support that the proposed noise reduction method efficiently removes noise.","PeriodicalId":101716,"journal":{"name":"2005 Digest of Technical Papers. This architecture can support a range of scalable configurations, from small-scale systems without home servers, to large-scale systems centralized on a home server. Since the PRORIX/spl trade/ makes it possible to adapt a system scale to user needs, it becomes easier for users to introduce a home network system to their home. The work presents, as an example, a network camera system using this architecture.","PeriodicalId":101716,"journal":{"name":"2005 Digest of Technical Papers. We utilize the information obtained from the previously encoded image. The reconstructed error of each macroblock (MB) can be estimated from the previous frame. For the estimation of the error of the current MB, a block with the size of MB in the previous frame is chosen. Since the original and reconstructed images of the previous frame are available in the encoder, we can evaluate the tendency of reconstruction error of the current MB in advance. Then, this error is considered as the expected error of the current MB. Comparing the error of the MB with the average of overall MB, if it is larger than the average, a small step size is given for this MB, and vice versa. Experimental results show that the rate control algorithm outperforms the conventional scheme. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm is so simple that is only introduces a little computational complexity. Therefore, it can be used in real time video coding.","PeriodicalId":101716,"journal":{"name":"2005 Digest of Technical Papers. International Conference on Consumer Electronics, 2005.
