But it seems that there are few proper stochastic or statistical models for analyzing the traffic assignment problem on the base of an economic theory. A new aggregate-hypothesis is presented which is derived from a survey of migration research. It is followed by a preliminary test involving a certain choice of regions, statistical indicators, time period, direction and form of postulated relationships. It is demonstrated that the two points are not identical, and that the center of gravity minimizes the squares of the distances. The cause of the confusion is shown.
