The aim of this study is to evaluate the masticatory efficiency and satisfaction of complete denture wearers without and with the use of two different forms of commercially available denture adhesives.
 Material and Methods: 30 edentulous participants with new complete dentures placed one month before the commencement of the study were included in this cross-over randomized clinical trial (CTRI/2021/07/035238) which compared a powder adhesive and a cream adhesive along with no adhesive use. The objective assessment used the Edlund and Lamm index for masticatory efficiency and the subjective assessment followed a specially designed questionnaire. Both assessments were carried out on days 0,7 and 21. One-way ANOVA was used to compare the objective data and the questionnaire responses were obtained as percentages.
 Results: The one-way ANOVA test for difference between the groups was statistically insignificant for all layers (P>.05). The questionnaire responses revealed that 53.3% of the participants preferred the use of cream adhesive over powder adhesive.
 Conclusions: No significant difference in the masticatory efficiency was noted between the two denture adhesives and without adhesive use. Patient satisfaction was greater with adhesive use showing a predilection towards cream adhesive due to its longer duration of action and improved chewing ability.","PeriodicalId":100856,"journal":{"name":"King Saud University Journal of Dental Sciences","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135832467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children with ectodermal dysplasia may have various manifestation of the disease that differ in severity and may involve teeth, skin, hair, nails, sweat glands and sebaceous glands. A 16 years Old girl reported in the department of Prosthodontics and crown bridge,with chief complain of of inability to masticate and her unesthetic appearance. She desired replacement of her missing teeth. Family history revealed similar findings in her 18-year old brother. Clinical findings and family history suggested a diagnosis of hypohydrotic ectodermal dysplasia. The present clinical report demonstrated that maxillary flexible RPDs associated with direct composite restorations, Zirconia crowns and mandibular complete denture with CEKA supported Stud attachment are a reversible, relatively inexpensive method of treatment for ectodermal dysplasia patients especially during their growth years. The esthetic, light weight, and good retentive and fracture properties of the flexible denture base materials make a good alternative to the conventional and cast partial dentures.","PeriodicalId":100856,"journal":{"name":"King Saud University Journal of Dental Sciences","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135673897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It might be challenging to diagnose and arrange effective treatments when pulpal issues and inflammatory periodontal disease coexist. One of the most frequent oral cavity cysts is the radicular cyst, which is typically brought on by trauma or an infection. There are a number of techniques that are now being used to enhance postoperative recovery and hasten the repair and regeneration of the damaged area. An investigation revealed that a 38-years-old patient had a radicular cyst, which was initially treated by endodontic treatment of the involved teeth, followed by enucleation of the cyst and a further bone graft placement followed by Platelet rich fibrin membrane. The patient's main complaint was pain in lower front jaw region for two to three months. Patient also had few episodes of pus discharge on its own through the same region. After three months, there was an increase in clinical attachment level and a decrease in probing depth. There was a sizable bone fill, according to radiographic findings.","PeriodicalId":100856,"journal":{"name":"King Saud University Journal of Dental Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135960082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
