As Katie Rose Guest Pryal, a bipolar and autistic author and academic, writes in her new book <i>A Light in the Tower: A New Reckoning with Mental Health in Higher Education</i> (University Press of Kansas), “Based on the logic of academia, if my brain is wrong, then everything about me is wrong.” She argues that mental disability is stigmatized in higher education and pushed into the shadows and that the key solution to the mental disability crisis — Pryal's preferred terminology — is to increase accessibility overall rather than just provide accommodations for faculty and students. My plan was to reflect on the Kansas City Chiefs’ first-ever-in-the-NFL three-peat (where the same team wins the Super Bowl three times in a row). I was going to review the leadership characteristics of Head Coach Andy Reid and all-star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. If you saw the game, you know the Chiefs lost. No, they got completely dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles. It looked very bleak early on, when the half-time score was 24-0.
