However, hazing is a form of abuse that's typically perpetrated by the older, more experienced student-athletes, and sometimes the coaching staff, to humiliate newer and younger teammates in front of their peers. It's actually bullying that takes advantage of the inherent power dynamic between the upper-class student-athletes and the freshmen, together with others on the team who are perceived as having a “lower social status.”</p>","PeriodicalId":100210,"journal":{"name":"Campus Security Report","volume":"22 5","pages":"7-13"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144910166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
