The proliferation of Web sites touting “miracle cures” for asthma and allergies that work in as little as one week dovetails with a growing interest in legitimate complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). This is especially true for pregnant women with asthma. Proper nutrition, exercise, and rest are not the only important rules of thumb for these women. Maintaining adequate control of asthma should be a top priority for women breathing for two. But many women who are concerned about their asthma medications causing harm to their unborn child mistakenly avoid taking their medications while they are pregnant. The result is often uncontrolled asthma during pregnancy, which can lead to serious medical issues for both women and their unborn babies.
