All the patients underwent standard automated perimetry three times on three different days within one week on G program of Octopus Visual Field Analyzer. The details of reliability indices, global indices, and test duration were compiled and analyzed. Result. A male preponderance was observed with a mean age of 53.43 years. The mean false positive was found to be 11.13, 6.07, and 2.40 on visit 1, visit 2, and visit 3, respectively. The mean false negative was found to be 13.73, 9.33, and 6.30 on visit 1, visit 2, and visit 3, respectively. The mean fixation loss was found to be 7.53, 3.83, and 1.60 on visit 1, visit 2, and visit 3, respectively. The mean deviation was found to be -10.14, -5.75, and -3.11 on visit 1, visit 2, and visit 3, respectively. The pattern standard deviation was found to be 5.58, 4.63, and 4.35 on visit 1, visit 2, and visit 3, respectively. The mean test duration was found to be 7.68, 6.21, & 5.51 minutes for visit 1, visit 2 and visit 3, respectively. All the values were statistically highly significant except for the pattern standard deviation. Conclusion. At least three standard automated perimetry tests should be performed for all glaucoma patients in order to obtain a base line perimetry chart.
","PeriodicalId":94203,"journal":{"name":"Romanian journal of ophthalmology","volume":"62 4","pages":"277-281"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6421494/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41175696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Romania, the emergence of private ophthalmology services has as outcome a positive-sum competition which focuses on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of eye related diseases and disorders and improved value. The purpose of this paper was to provide an insight into the knowledge used by consumers when they make a decision regarding a private ophthalmology service with a specific interest on competition. A research model was elaborated and included quality, price, and satisfaction as components influenced by competition from the consumers' perspectives. The model was validated using Structural Equation Modeling in SmartPLS. The sample was made up of 120 respondents and the sampling technique was quota. The structural model revealed that competition has a positive impact on satisfaction and explained 74% of its variance and also that competition has a positive impact on price and explained 7% of the variance. Moreover, using IPMA matrix analysis, the most powerful item of competition construct with an influence on satisfaction was the one related to the reputation of the private ophthalmology organization. Nonetheless, the key to gain competitive advantage stands in providing meaningful value to consumers using differentiation features such as high prices, reputation, and awareness on the services offered, greater availability, and the most important feature, innovation.
","PeriodicalId":94203,"journal":{"name":"Romanian journal of ophthalmology","volume":"62 2","pages":"123-134"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6117530/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41151619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thrombophilia is the predisposition to vascular thrombosis with the existence of genetic defect that leads to blood hypercoagulability. This report describes the case of a 55 year old male patient, with an active life who presented himself at the emergency room with acute visual lose, insidious and progressive visual field constriction, without any known history of neurological or vascular diseases. The examinations revealed unilateral optic nerve head edema, the fluorescein angiography was specific for nonischemic central retinal vein occlusion CRVO complicated with macular edema. Blood examinations has emphasized the presence of the heterozygous mutation A1298C in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene (MTHFR), the only one presented from the thrombophilia screen panel and a slightly elevated cholesterol level. During the follow-up period, the patient received anti-VEGF treatment (Bevacizumab, 3x 0.1 ml intravitreal injections) with improved visual acuity and amendment of macular edema. The complex etiology calls for interdisciplinary approach to determine better the cause of this ophthalmological disease.
