Currently, it is the third type of adverse event most reported by the patient safety centers of health services in the country, according to the National Report of Incidents Related to Health Care. The classification and the identification of risk factors are essential for implementation of preventive and therapeutic actions in susceptible patients. Nutritional status is a fundamental piece for the prevention and development of PU, making it essential to integrate the interdisciplinary team in the prevention and treatment of PU, with a focus on quality, safety and patient experience. In this sense, the objective of this campaign is to disseminate knowledge, providing technical support for patient care and reducing PU rates. A mnemonic was developed with the word “CICATRIZATION”, in which each letter proposes steps that help in the identification of risk, assessment, treatment and monitoring of PU. Thus, the sequence of 12 steps established in this campaign is suggested as a measure to assist health professionals in this management

However, guidelines for nutritional therapy (NT) include both medical and surgical patients. The aim of this study was to describe the NT practices of critically ill children admitted for medical and surgical reasons. Methods: Prospective cohort study conducted with critically ill children, between 1 month and 15 years old, admitted in a pediatric intensive care unit. Patients who were discharged within the first 48 hours, died within the first 72 hours or who received oral NT were excluded. Clinical and demographic were collected. Nutritional status was assessed at admission and NT data from the first 7 days was collected. Chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests were\u0000applied and p<0.05 was considered significant. Results: A total of 201 patients were included, with a median age of 2.2 years, 154 (76.6%) were admitted for medical reasons and 47 (23.4%) for surgical reasons. Compared to medical patients, surgical patients had a higher median age (5.0 vs. 1.4 years; p = 0.035), lower Pediatric Index of Mortality 2 (1.1 vs. 6.1%; p<0.001) and higher prevalence of complex chronic diseases (17 vs. 47%; p<0.001). There was no difference regarding nutritional status. Surgical patients showed higher median time for NT initiation (22.3 vs. 16.3 h; p=0.016), higher prevalence of parenteral nutrition (31.6 vs. 15.1%; p=0.019), lower energy (24.5 vs. 35.9 kcal/kg/d; p=0.003) and protein (0.82 vs. 0.99 g/kg/d; p=0.026) intake and higher prevalence of underfeeding (82.6 vs. 50%; p<0.001). There was a higher prevalence\u0000of abdominal distension (36.2 vs. 21.4%; p=0.04) and constipation (38.3 vs. 16.9%; p=0.002) in surgical patients. Conclusion: Surgical patients were older, less severe, had longer time for NT initiation, higher prevalence of underfeeding and abdominal distension in the first 7 days. NT protocols should be individualized according to the reason for hospitalization.

Methods: A quantitative and descriptive study was conducted on adults of both genders hospitalized in the ICU of a university hospital from March to December 2018. Variables were collected from evaluation and nutritional monitoring forms, including: gender, age, length of ICU hospitalization, date of discharge or death. The presence of intestinal constipation (absence of bowel movements> three days) was evaluated. After collection, the data were tabulated in Microsoft Excel software spreadsheets and later analyzed by the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 13.0, and the chi-square test was used for statistical difference (p <0.05 to accept the alternative hypothesis). Results: The sample consisted of 116 patients, 46.6% men and 53.4% women, with a mean age of 45 (IR 31-53) years. The occurrence of constipation averaged 47% (target <20%). Regarding the outcome, the group of patients with constipation had higher lethality (27.5% versus 14.5%), but was not statistically confirmed (p> 0.05). Most patients had low nutritional risk (61.5%),\u0000however, those with high nutritional risk (38.5%) had a greater tendency to constipation, but this relationship was not statistically confirmed (p> 0.05). Conclusion: A high frequency of constipation was found in critically ill patients. Constipation appears to be associated with a worse prognosis in critically ill patients and is essential to identify and treat. Given this result, it is necessary to create protocols and action plans for the prevention and treatment of this disorder in intensive care units.

The addition of body mass index (BMI) to modified Xitron-Hanai-based mixture equations improved BIS estimates of intracellular water (ICW), particularly at the extremes of BMI. We applied BIS adiposity-corrected values to Chamney equations for normally hydrated lean and adipose tissue (NHLT, NHAT) and FM. Although cross-sectional FM measures differed, FM change measures post-RYGB did not (35.6±8.9 vs. 35.2±9.2 kg, BIS vs. DXA) and agreed well (r=0.84, p<.0001).
