Therefore, patients' satisfaction has been a part of our research study for assessment of quality of hypertension management at public primary health care facilities in Khartoum, Sudan. The main objective is to study the degrees of patients' satisfaction with the provided services at public primary health care facilities in Khartoum, Sudan. Methodology: Facility-based cross-sectional descriptive study, conducted at public primary health care facilities in Sharg-Alneel locality, Khartoum State, Sudan. The study population composed of 147 hypertensive patients who were available during the data collection period in 29 public primary health care facilities. A well-structured standardized administered questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire was pretested and the collected data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 16. Ethical approval from the Sudan Medical Specialization Board, Federal Ministry of Health, and State Ministry of Health were obtained, and hypertensive patients were initially informed and their consent was taken, including a full explanation of the study objectives. Results: For the demographic factors, patients older than 40 years of age, female patients, patients lived near the health facility, those with primary and secondary levels of education and low-income patients had higher scores of satisfaction . Other areas with high satisfactions were the positive attitudes of the care providers 75.7%, constant availability of the services 68.2%. Besides, 80.4% of the participants agreed that the provided services were good. However, only 46.7% were satisfied with the physical environment of the health care facility, and 29.9% were satisfied with the waiting time in the clinic. Conclusion: Most of the patients were satisfied with positive and supportive attitudes of the care providers towards them. Moreover, the main reasons for dissatisfaction were the long waiting time, and poor waiting areas and physical environment of the facilities.","PeriodicalId":91957,"journal":{"name":"Public health (Fairfax, Va.)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47685636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The stress associated with the latter is known as secondary traumatic stress.3 Aside from these types of traumatic stress; emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and a reduced experience of personal accomplishment have also been observed in individuals working in stressful environments over a significant period of time. These symptoms are often referred to as burnout.4,5 This study is a re-analysis of the data from an earlier study to examine the predictors of burnout in psychiatric hospital patient care providers.2 The research question in the original study was related to the prevalence of post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) in psychiatric hospital care workers and their relationships to resilience, compassion satisfaction, secondary traumatic stress and burnout.2 PTSS are symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that may or may not reach the level of a clinical Background The role of resilience in mediating burnout in psychiatric hospital care-givers has not been well established in the published research. This study attempted to identify the salient factors associated with the development of burnout, specifically resilience, through a secondary analysis of data collected in a study of post-traumatic stress symptoms in a sample of hospital employees. Methods An analysis of data collected in a correlational study with a convenience sample of 149 care-givers in a psychiatric hospital was performed, comparing the rate of traumatic events (TEs), resilience, confidence, PTSD symptoms (PTSS), secondary traumatic stress, compassion satisfaction, and life events to burnout. The analysis employed multiple linear regression, mediation analysis and path analysis. Results It was observed that episodes of trauma stress, resilience and compassion satisfaction, combined, robustly predict burnout (explained variance=65%), but that each variable is a weak predictor. In addition, resilience was not related to trauma and stress and did not mediate burnout. This finding presents a paradigm suggesting that there may be two distinctly separate pathways affecting burnout, one involving traumatic stress and the other–resilience and compassion satisfaction. Conclusion The effect of resilience in the development of burnout may be limited to its relationship to role satisfaction (compassion satisfaction) and unrelated to tra","PeriodicalId":91957,"journal":{"name":"Public health (Fairfax, Va.)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47926465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More specifically, drowning and road traffic injuries were reported to be the top ten causes of death amongst children between the ages of 1 to 14-years-old, and for those aged between 15 and 19 years old, road traffic injuries was the number one cause of death in the year 2004. Each year, injury and violence kills up to 950,000 children under 16 years of age and millions Objective To examine the current indicators used by medical healthcare professionals to identify the intent of child injury and the processes that are undertaken once potential child neglect, maltreatment or abuse is identified. Materials and Methods Thirty in-depth interviews were conducted at the ETD in three major hospitals in the Klang Valley, Malaysia which consists of specialists, medical officers, nurses and medical assistants.","PeriodicalId":91957,"journal":{"name":"Public health (Fairfax, Va.)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48184697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given the need for culturally-appropriate SAT for Latinos, research that examines the role of cultural constructs and acculturation in relation to substance use behavior is warranted. The purpose of the present study is to test, based on the social control theory, a multiple moderation model using the PROCESS macro<sup>1</sup> to examine the moderating effect of Familismo on the association between history of family conflict and years of substance abuse on Latino males who completed SAT at different levels of acculturation (i.e., cultural orientation). Generational status (i.e., immigrant, U. S. born) and age are used as covariates. A total of 117 Latino male participants (M<sub>age</sub>= 37, 54% non-U.S. born with a mean length of stay of 19 years in the U.S.) who completed SAT from facilities located in the metropolitan area of Chicago completed self-report measures. Results from the multiple moderation analysis showa significant three-way interaction (family conflict × Familismo × acculturation), indicating that participants with Latino and bicultural orientation who endorse average to high levels of Familismo have fewer years of substance abuse compared to those with U.S. mainstream culture orientation and low Familismo. Findings illustrate the need for SAT that assesses for family conflict and integrates cultural aspects to reduce substance use behavior on Latino males.</p>","PeriodicalId":91957,"journal":{"name":"Public health (Fairfax, Va.)","volume":"1 2","pages":"48-56"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5354469/pdf/nihms-814403.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"34833411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
