This new direction in science opens up major new perspectives in medicine for treating many diseases and increasing human life expectancy. However, through surgical techniques alone, medicine has been unable to overcome the principal reason behind negative results of organ transplants-the barrier posed by the biological incompatibilty of tissues. Nonetheless, the accomplishments in this area have been considerable. Successes in transplantology are confronting the scientific world with a multitude of questions, the most important of which are not just medical but legal as well. The basic task of law is to integrally combine the successes of transplantology with the advantages of the Soviet health-care system.\"The common goal of these legal decrees is to place the achievements of modern medical science in the service of the suffering and to ...","PeriodicalId":82771,"journal":{"name":"Soviet law and government","volume":"22 4 1","pages":"17-26"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1984-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.2753/RUP1061-1940220417","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69591856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The harmony of personal and public interests in socialist society presupposes the existence of a certain area of personal life that is free of direct interference by society. Individual freedom in personal life is one of the most important and specific components of personal liberty. The state does not regulate many aspects of personal life unless such regulation is indicated by society's interests or else legislatively prohibits the invasion of privacy. Thus, the purely personal is granted the right to exist, and every citizen's right to privacy is assured.","PeriodicalId":82771,"journal":{"name":"Soviet law and government","volume":"20 4 1","pages":"71-85"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1982-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.2753/RUP1061-1940200471","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69591791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the help of science, the nature of man will adapt itself more and more to new environmental conditions as they change under the influence of scientific and technical progress. Attainment of this objective involves further development of human genetics and genetic engineering. Its next stage, with respect to man, will be \"correction\" of the functioning of pathological genes, and later will come replacement of them by normal ones, thereby opening a new road to prevention of hereditary disease. The first achievements along these lines have already been attained in the form of successes in the synthesizing of genes and development of methods of introducing them into the genetic apparatus. A number of forms of genetic management pose important ethical and legal problems: the ...","PeriodicalId":82771,"journal":{"name":"Soviet law and government","volume":"16 1","pages":"40-54"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1977-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.2753/RUP1061-1940160140","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69591604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
