Some epidemiological studies have reported a relationship between infertility and lifestyle patterns including dietary habits. Our objective was to identify the relation between Healthy eating index and sperm parameters in Iranian infertile men. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional was performed on 400 newly diagnosed infertile men in Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute from July to December 2019. Men were recruited when their infertility was confirmed by the expert andrologist based on WHO criteria. They delivered a semen sample and answered a 168 items semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ).All data were analyzed using SPSS V. 22 software. P-value less than 0.5 considered as significant. Results: There was significant association between sperm density and HEI score tertile in crude model but after adjustment for potential confounders there was not any association. Participants in highest tertile had a higher risk of density and lower risk of motility in crude model (OR =1.69; 95 Percentage CI: 1.00, 2.88; P=0.05 and OR=1.31; 95 Percentage CI: 0.78, 2.21; P=0.29) and risk of density (OR=1.15; 95 Percentage CI: 0.65, 2.03; P=0.63 and OR=1.31; 95 Percentage CI: 0.71, 2.40; P=0.38) and motility decrease in adjusted models (OR=0.86; 95 Percentage CI: 0.49, 1.52; P=0.59 and OR=0.92; 95 Percentage CI: 0.50, 1.67; P=0.74). Conclusions: We concluded that adherence to HEI principles can have a positive effect on men's fertility. However, more research is needed to confirm these relations and provide the evidence needed to exert these findings into clinical practice.","PeriodicalId":72382,"journal":{"name":"Biomedical and clinical research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81766842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With a crucial role in the pandemic, mental health and quality of life among health care workers (HCWs) needs to be addressed. Purposes: The study aimed to describe mental health and the health-related quality of life among HCWs and explore the relationship between mental health and quality of life among HCWs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from 6 April to 19 April 2020 at nine hospitals in Vietnam. The questionnaire included participant's characteristics, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). De-pression and anxiety were defined as PHQ scoregreater than or equal to 10 and GAD scoregreater than or equal to 8, respectively. Descriptive, bivariate, and multiple regression analyses were used to analyze the data with a significant level at p less than 0.05. Results: A total of 3,757 HCWs were enrolled in the study. Proportions of de-pression and anxiety were 4.5 Percentage and 3.1 Percentage, respectively. The overall mean score of HRQoL was 73.4 ± 14.9 (possible score range from 0 to 100). Protective factors of HRQoL consisted of physical activity, ability to pay for medication, gender, and social status, while its risk factors included suspected COVID-19 symptoms, smoking status. HRQoL was associated with depression (B(95 PercentageCI) = -8.15 (-10.76 to -5.55) and anxiety (B(95 PercentageCI) = -6.87 (-9.99 to -3.75)), p less than0.001. Conclusion: There was a relationship between mental health and the health-related quality of life among HCWs. Integration of healthy lifestyles and psychological support can help improve mental health and quality of life for HCWs during the pandemic.","PeriodicalId":72382,"journal":{"name":"Biomedical and clinical research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87884217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is also a global public health problem affecting both developing and developed countries with major consequences for human health, social and economic development. In Ethiopia, chronic illnesses are tremendously rising with their complications, but very little research has been conducted, particularly on anemia among type two diabetic mellitus patients. Objective: To assess the prevalence of anemia and associated risk factors among type 2 diabetic patients attending Ambo town government Hospitals in West Shewa, Ethiopia from September – October 2020 G.C. Method: A Hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted on T2DM patients from September - October 2020. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 356 patients. Data were collected by face-to-face interviews, Administered Questionnaires, and Other Biological Samples such as, blood and urine from 356 patients. Data was entered to EPI-info and exported to SPSS software package for further analysis, Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression models were fitted; Crude Odds Ratio and Adjusted Odds Ratio with 95 Percentage Confidence Interval (CI) were computed. In all cases, P-value less than 0.05 is taken as statistically significant. Results: The study showed that 27.5 Percentage of participants were anemic. Out of anemic T2DM patients, 92 (92.9 Percentage) and 7 (7.1 Percentage) had mild and moderate anemia, respectively. Having nephropathy (AOR = 6.2, CI: 1.82, 21.16), being male (AOR = 4.32, CI: 1.09, 517.03), duration of diabetes for 5 years and greater (AOR = 4.42, CI: 1.27, 15.45) and having high serum creatinine (AOR=10.07, CI: 2.89, 35.2) were all significantly associated with anemia. Conclusion: The magnitude of anemia was 27.5 Percentage among T2DM patients in the study area. Therefore, routine screening of anemia for all T2DM patients assisting in early identification and improved management of diabetes will lead to improved quality of life in this patient population.","PeriodicalId":72382,"journal":{"name":"Biomedical and clinical research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88207118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The question is not how the melanin density of the eye affects vision, but how the melanin density of the eye affects vision. The purpose of this manuscript is to try to answer this question. Results: After the test, it was found that in lighter eye color, due to the lower density of melanin, less protection against the sun’s rays is provided to the vision cells, which caused the destruction or damage to the vision cells and makes the person perceive colors darker than people see that the density of melanin in the eyes is higher. Conclusion: the color of each person’s eyes indicates the density of melanin in the eye, the lighter it is, the lower the density of melanin in the eye, and since the melanin in the eye has a protective role for the vision cells against solar rays, the lower its density, the more severe the damage from solar rays. The visual cells, especially the cylindrical ones, are increased and may affect the person’s vision.","PeriodicalId":72382,"journal":{"name":"Biomedical and clinical research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86246169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
