Despite the advances reached, the development of reliable, accurate and low-cost indoor location systems still remains as an open problem. In this work, we focus on a specific class of location methods where the position of a Mobile Station (MS) is estimated by optimizing a cost function. As far as we know, the optimization models for indoor location proposed so far, only consider the current RSS measurements to estimate the position. In this paper, we propose an optimization approach that uses both current and past measurements to estimate the MS location. To solve the underlying optimization problem we use a Dierential Evolution algorithm. It is shown the advantages of using RGB cameras as the sensor onboard UAVs and the advantages of using Fuzzy logic controllers. It is explained how to set a vision based system and how to define a Fuzzy controller for a general control approach. A specific software was design and used to develop and tune general Fuzzy control approaches. The “how-to” of this software is also explained in this paper. A methodology to how to design, developed and tune Vision based Fuzzy Control (VBFC) approaches in robotics is also presented. Furthermore, it is shown three dierent VBFC approaches for autonomous navigation developed using this methodology and software. It is, however, well-known that this model usually involves a good degree of arbitrariness. In this contribution we consider the possibility of standardising the construction of fuzzy sets at least with regard to the borderline cases. To this end, we identify a vague property with the sets of clearly positive cases and clearly negative cases and under the assumption that the universe of discourse is a metric space, we determine the fuzzy set by what can be described as a linear interpolation.
