The percentage of in-migration in Madhya Pradesh from rural areas is very high (84.83), in comparison to the urban areas (15.17). The influences of industrialisation, urbanisation and facilities of higher education on in-migration has been analysed and found significant. The Chhattisgarh Basin and Malwa Plateau are the regions where the expectancy and actual in-migration are high.\"</p>","PeriodicalId":52479,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Institute of Indian Geographers","volume":"16 2","pages":"147-54"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"22021343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the findings it is noted that \"the total fertility ratio for Kenya rose from 6.7 in 1948 to 8.1 in 1989. The population growth rate according to the 1989 census was 4.2 per cent, the highest in the world. There has been a decline in mortality. [The] crude death rate declined from 25 per thousand in 1948 to 12 per thousand in 1989. There has also been a sharp decline in infant mortality from 184 per thousand in 1948 to 72 per thousand by 1989. Mortality differentials by the level of formal education show that mortality for children whose mothers have no formal education is highest, and lowest for children whose mothers have secondary education.\"</p>","PeriodicalId":52479,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Institute of Indian Geographers","volume":"13 2","pages":"129-39"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"22015692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its focus is on the development of an explanatory model to account for the determining factors for, and impact of, rural migration. Recognising the diversity of causal factors in rural migration in traditional societies of the world, the model proposes that the rural-rural migration phenomenon is better understood within the systems analytical framework.\"</p>","PeriodicalId":52479,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Institute of Indian Geographers","volume":"12 2","pages":"103-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"22027116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
